'Simhadri' marks the return of producer R S Gowda and director Shivamani who earlier enterained the audience with Sudeep starrer 'Tirupathi'. After a success in their first outing, the duo is back with a new film called 'Simhadri' starring 'Duniya' Vijay, Soundarya Jayamala and others. Shivamani who is known for his variety of films, for the first time is directing a sentiment story. Shivamani has written the story and screenplay of the film apart from directing it. B A Madhu is in charge of dialogues. Well known cameraman R Giri is behind camera for this film, while Arjun Janya is the music director.
Producer R S Gowda is a well known producer of many hit films including 'Thavarige Baa Thangi' and others. R S Gowda earlier made films in partnership with M B Babu and Ramesh Yadav. He had produced films like 'Tharle Nanmaga' and others after which he started his own production company called Mega Hit Films to produce films like 'Commissioner Narasimha', 'Thavarige Baa Thangi', 'Maharaja', 'Tirupathi', 'Gandana Mane', 'Sankranthi' and 'Chennamma IPS' among which 'Thavarige Baa Thangi' was a huge blockbuster. R S Gowda also ventured in to Telugu cinema with the remake of his Kannada blockbuster 'Thavarige Baa Thangi' starring Shivarajkumar and Radhika. The Telugu version was also a huge hit and with the profits of the two films, R S Gowda built a huge studio near Magadi Road, which is catering to the needs of the Kannada producers. After a gap of nearly two years, Gowda is back by producing 'Simhadri' starring Vijay in lead role.
'Simhadri' is a brother-sister sentiment story set in a village background. Simhadri and his sister live in a village in Karnataka and Simhadri is very fond of his sister. While his sister studies in a college, Simhadri works for the village landlord. The landlord is very fond of Simhadri and treats him like his son. The story kick starts when the landlord's son who comes to India for marriage, reveals that he is in love with Simhadri's sister. The landlord accepts their love and gets his son married to Simhadri's sister. But the landlord's son-in-law is very upset with this, as he has an old rivalry with Simhadri. He plans to finish off Simhadri's sister and pesters in her many ways hereby making her a villain in the eyes of the family members. He even plans to kills her, trying to make it look like an accident. What happen next forms the rest of the film.

Actor-director Shivamani made his debut as a director with political thriller 'Rajakiya' starring Devaraj, Ananthnag and others. Shivamani got noticed in his first film itself and his second film 'Golibar' produced by Ramu boomeranged him to success. 'Golibar' was once again a political thriller and Devaraj and Arundhatinag played prominent roles in the film. The film was a huge hit during those times and Shivamani not only got noticed for his direction, but also for his narration pattern and takings. After that there was no turning back for Shivamani and the director went on to direct films like 'Swathi', 'Shivasainya', 'Jana', 'Agnisakshi', 'Minugutaare', 'Dore', 'Kubera', 'Omkara', 'Ashoka', 'Masthi' and others. He also made his debut as a hero with a film called 'Love You'. The film went on to become an average at the box-office and after that Shivamani acted in one more film. 'Simhadri' marks the return of the director after five years. Shivamani's last film was 'Josh' and the director had taken a short break from the Kannada film industry due to personal reasons. Now Shivamani is back with a brother-sister sentiment story called 'Simhadri' with Vijay in the lead role.
Vijay who is fondly known as 'Duniya' Vijay made his foray in to Kannada cinema by playing a small role in Sudeep's 'Ranga SSLC'. Though the film was not a huge hit, Vijay got recognised in his debut film itself and he went on to act in films like 'Rakshasa', 'Jogi', 'Kallarali Hoovagi', 'Rishi' and others. In all these films, Vijay was seen in paltry roles. It was through 'Duniya' that Vijay made his debut as a hero. The film was a blockbuster and there was no turning back for the actor. Vijay from then on went on to act in films like 'Chanda', 'Yuga', 'Junglee', 'Karichirate', 'Khadak', 'Kanteerava', 'Johnny Mera Naam', 'Jarasandha', 'Jayammana Maga' and others. Now, Vijay is back with a new film called 'Simhadri'. After a long gap, Vijay is being seen in a film with out and out village back drop. Incindentally, both Vijay and Shivamani are known for their action films, but they are teaming up together in a sentiment film called 'Sihadri'.
Soundarya, daughter of well known actress and former president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Dr Jayamala, made her debut with Upendra starrer 'Godfather'. The film was not such a big success, but the actress got recognised for her talent in her debut film itself. Soundarya's second film 'Paru W/O Devdas' was with Srinagara Kitty and 'Simhadri' is her third film. She plays a naughty village girl in this sentimental film.
