A new action entertainer titled as Cottonpete directed by Om Prakash Rao and produced by Huli producers Sudhindra and Shivalingaiah was launched at the Lakshmi Venkateshwara Temple in the OTC Road Balepet area. Audithya is the heroine of the film while Aindrita Ray may be the most likely choice for the heroine's role in the film.
Om Prakash Rao said that the title Cottonpete has been finalised because such titles are very catchy and attractive to mass audience. He said that the film's hero belongs to Cottonpete and he loves a girl from neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
"It would be a total entertainer in the pattern of my earlier film Kalasipalya which became a bigger hit. I will remix many sequences of successful non Kannada films to create a story. I am not embarrassed to reveal this information to you as I am certainly depressed with the box office failure of Huli which was made with an original story. I got good reviews for this film, but I should say with a tinge of regret that the film did not do well in theatres. I think we have made a mistake and I would like to correct it and return to my old style' said Om Prakash Rao. He also added that twenty percent of the dialogues will be in Tamil.
Audithya said that he has not yet heard the story of the film yet, but he has full confidence on the abilities of director Om Prakash Rao to deliver a commercial hit. Shobharaj, Aadi Lokesh and Bullet Prakash are the other artists in this film. A fight sequence choreographed by Different Danny was picturised after the muhurath and press conference. Venus Murthy is the cameraman of the film and Abhiman Roy is the music director.
