Manisha, darshan, Sindhu Menon in dharma movie

The humble and pleasing producer of Kannada cinema M.G.Rammurthy (maker of hit Kannada film ‘Majestic’.) has given everything from his side to the making of this film. We appreciate his zeal for good quality Kannada films. The proportions of sentiments, actions and music are measured well by the producer.

But the director Chandranath has not used this big chance fully. What were the constraints he had? Has he been succumbed the action image of Darshan?  While the film is a feast for action and music lovers in the rest of the places the director should have showed more degree of skill. He is a good storyteller. But the breath taking moments are there but narration style deserved to be better. The director has not concentrated on some of the minute aspects. Throughout the stay of hero in prison looks as if he has arrived from Wear-house. At the interval point the director showing the video camera at the murder place of MLA Rajanna gives very little brainwork for the audience. The second heroine walks away from the hero’s life in a gentle style does not have the justification. While the director himself is not a Kannadiga and it is not proper on our part to expect the proper diction of Kannada from lead artistes like Darshan and Sindhu Menon. The director not seeing the current quality of good Kannada films which is there is also one of the reasons for average such standards.

The film is all about a dashing youth holding knife in his hand converts into a heart that is as soft as butter. Thanks to Sindhu Menon who throws a challenge to Dharma (Darshan) the ruffian to write a poem. In the process of writing a poem this deal master Dharma softens from nefarious activities. He falls in love with Kavya but he is forced to take up a murder that he has not done. In prison (with colorful costumes) Dharma meets yet another beautiful lass and she is the daughter of a law minister. In exchange of Dharma’s love the deal is fixed between Sindhu Menon and Manisha. For the release of hero Dharma Sindhu Menon should walk out from his life. While this is the usual happening the surprise factor is that Dharma gets a clue to the murderer of MLA Rajanna. Dharma out from the prison on bail is now in the company of Manisha but he has two dangers ahead. Manisha’s father – law minister has some one from aristocratic family as bridegroom for his daughter. But at the same time the law minister is also in danger from Dharma. For these suspense elements you have to watch the film.

Darshan excel once again in action scenes. He has to improve his dialogue delivery. Sindhu Menon and Manisha give good support but Ragayana Raghu and Doddanna steal the show on screen and remain in memory for long. Jai Jagdeesh rendered able support as Dharma’s father. It is the role almost real role to Harish Rai in this film.

Hamsalekha has scored three good tunes. Sundarnath Suvarna captures the attention in the outdoor locations. The newcomers in the action and choreography – Ravivarma and Rajesh Brahmavar have done their job neatly.

This is an above average film. The mixture of good deeds with ulterior motives has come out well.
