It is only in the memory stock the building of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce remains. The ancient look for the KFCC gets a new facelift shortly with new offices, preview theatre and a multi complex to support itself economically.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce building situated at Race Course Road adjacent to Gururaja Kalyana Mantapa demolition will take place soon according to its Journal of the film chamber in the December 2000 monthly magazine.
The report in Kannada related to the new building for Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is printed in the page No.21 of the magazine with a photograph. In the 56 years history of Film Chamber of Commerce this 20 years old building is razed for better outlook. This is a sprucing up activity for the next International Film Festival falling in October 2001 in Bangalore one could say.
It may be recalled the Film Chamber of Commerce has made the Sanketh Studio situated adjacent since last 15 years to vacate recently and that place will be used for commercial complex. The report published in the magazine also states that around two years ago a committee for the construction of new building was formed and it did not function fast for various reasons.
As the demolition starts very shortly the office of the Film Chamber will be shifting to Stopgap building situated adjacent to States theatre.
