GK Venkatesh became a music director with the film Sodari, which released in the year 1955. He was one of the two composers along with Padmanabha Shastry. Dorai Raj, who would later become part of the famous Dorai-Bhagwan duo of directors became an independent cinematographer with this film.

The same year saw the release of Striratna, in which KS Ashwath made his debut as an actor. This was also the first Kannada film that was partially shot in colour. Famous writer Aa Na Krishna Rao wrote the dialogues for this film.

Popular Tamil comedy actors NS Krishnan and TA Madhuram acted in this film. In 1956, Bhagyachakra, the film based on a story by music composer Vijaya Bhaskar was made. Geethapriya wrote the dialogues for this film. NG Rao, a Kannadiga who was a popular cinematographer in Mumbai produced this film.
