Mallikarjuna Mansur, who had become well-known all over India as a classical Hindustani singer, composed music for the film Chandrahasa, which released in 1947.
Popular writer NK (NK Kulkarni) had written the dialogues for the film based on ancient poet Lakshmisha's poem. Amir Bai Karnataki, who was a famous singer across the country, acted in the role of Chandrahasa's stepmother and sang a beautiful song as well.
The film was shot in the studios of Mumbai and Kollapur as well as the forest areas of Ambaghat. A dance display of the granddaughter of Manipal's TM Pai was used in the film. The film ran for 15 weeks in Ilakal in Bijapur.
