T Chowdaiah, the grandfather of actor Ambareesh, was popularly known as Pitilu Chowdaiah. Vani, the film he produced, was released in 1943. Though the shooting for this film started in 1940, it took three years to complete.
The film was jointly directed by K Hiranaiah (father of Master Hiranaiah) and Gopal. A classical music concert of Chambai Vaidyanath Bhagavatar, the guru of T Chowdaiah, was shot for this film. Two reels of the film was used up for this scene alone.
