Bangalore and Mysore had sophisticated venues for production of silent films by 1930. Between 1929 and 1933 as many as 55 silent films were made in these two cities. These films were screened throughout India. Many of these films had Hindi or English names. The first film made in 1929 was Raj Hriday or Heart of a King.
