In what could be termed as a strict warning to all filmmakers that they shall face a jail term of up to five years for depicting smoking images in film posters, the joint director of health and family welfare department has issued a notice to the makers of Telugu film iSmart Shankar, asking them to explain their film poster with smoking images advertised at Inox cinemas at Mantri Mall on July 24.
There are several laws in force to discourage the use of tobacco amongst citizens with adequate publicity and awareness about the ill effects of tobacco and tobacco related products in the country. Of the many, any kind of promotion, advertisement of such products including through the medium of feature films is strictly governed under 'The Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of. Advertisement and Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003', which in short is known as COTPA Act.
In the latest case, the film poster of Telugu film iSmart Shankar directed by Puri Jagannath has been accused of violating the COTPA Act.
The Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare Department has issued a notice to the makers of iSmart Shankar seeking explanation for the alleged violation of COTPA Act by advertising the film posters of the film with smoking images at Inox cinemas, Mantri Mall as on date July 24. The communication states that the film posters with smoking images attracts punishment as per Sec 5 of the COTPA Act, and has sought explanation for the same.
Producer Ramesh Reddy new untitled movie will be directed by Ramesh Aravind and it will be launched on 19th June.
Apart from directing the movie Ramesh Aravind will also act in the lead role along with Rachita Ram. Ravi Basur is the music director. Ramesh Reddy has earlier produced Uppu Huli Khara, Nathicharami and Paddehulli movie.
Kannada film and television actress Sneha Acharya, one of the contestants in the ongoing sixth season of the Bigg Boss in Kannada hosted by Kiccha Sudeep, is tying the knot with her fiancé Ryan, on November 25.
Sneha, a trained dancer has featured in dance reality shows including hosting a few in Kannada television. She made her acting debut in Shivamani's directorial 'Josh’ and was last seen in Chetan's film 'Aake’ which starred Chiranjeevi Sarja, Sharmiela Mandre, and others.
She was accompanied by her fiancé before making entry into the ‘Bigg Boss’. While in conversation with Kiccha Sudeep, she had revealed about her marriage with Ryan in the near future, and had decided to contest in the show for the sake of its experience.
At present, she along with nine other contestants are facing elimination as they have been openly nominated by fellow contestants. Her fiancé Ryan, is based in New Jersey in the U.S.
The marriage of Sneha, daughter of Chandrasekar and Padmavathi, residents of Vijayanagar, is being held on November 25 while the reception will be on November 24, here in Bengaluru as per the Hindu customs.

The title (Madhagaja) and the first poster of Srii Murali's next with director Mahesh Kumar, produced by Umapathy S. Gowda will be unveiled by none other than Challenging Star Darshan himself, on Monday at Kalavidhara Sangha on the occasion of roaring star's birthday. Darshan will also be releasing the teaser of 'Bharaate’ movie on the occasion.

Gowda is producing one of his upcoming venture, which might be another reason for Darshan to stay away from getting embroiled in such issue. Moreover, Srii Murali, the talented actor is the son of present KFCC chairman and dragging the issue would only the hurt the industry, sources add.
In fact, the title 'Madhagaja’ was first registered by Majestic producer M G Ramamurthy for Darshan. Later, the producer had transferred the title to the banner of producer Praveen Kumar. Now, after Darshan's goodwill gesture, Madhagaja finally rests to roar for Srii Murali.
I Love You, the new film starting Upendra and directed by R Chandru is one of the most expected films this year. The first look motion poster of the film was expected to be released tomorrow on Upendra's birthday.
But it looks like the September 18 deadline may be missed. Two posters of the film were released last week to tremendous response from fans. So there was more curiosity about the motion poster. Sources said that the motion poster may be delayed by up to a week.
Some technical difficulties in the preparation is said to be the problem. R Chandru says he does not want to disappoint fans and try to release the motion poster as early as possible. This is the only new film Upendra has signed after joining politics. So his fans have very high hopes on I Love You.
