Actor Sudeep has been advised immediate surgery to his knuckle on the right hand to prevent permanent damage. Doctors have told him that if he does not undergo surgery now, there are chances that there will be 20 per cent infirmity on the knuckle for life. Despite the warning, Sudeep has postponed the surgery and re-started shooting for his new film produced by N Kumar on Saturday in Hyderabad. After the report published by earlier today, Sudeep called up Chitraloka surprised that the news about the injury was out. He sustained the injury a week ago.
Stating his reason for not undergoing surgery immediately, Sudeep said, "Commitment to work comes before any pain. I know that there are chances of 20 per cent permanent damage if I don't undergo surgery. But imagine the problems to the producer if I postpone the shooting for one month. He has invested crores of Rupees. Ravichandran sir has a special getup for this film. The dates of every actor will go haywire. The losses will be immense. I will prefer to go ahead with my commitment to the work on hand than worry about losing the shape of the finger. My friend Ramakanth has come from Bangalore to do the psychotherapy and is with me even now"
Sudeep said there was pain in the hand but that would not put him off work. "I had not acted in a film for nine months now. If I wanted to make money, I could have acted in three films by now. I have promised to deliver the film on time to my producer and will keep my word come what may. If you remember, I had a fracture on my finger when the Celebrity Cricket League was on. Despite that I played the matches, kept wickets and gave my all. That was only because I had made a promise that our team will win the cup. I fulfilled the promise. Pain is part of our work. I can never think of escaping duty citing a body pain." The on-going shooting schedule is one month long and Sudeep has decided not to undergo surgery till it is over.
The Indian film industry centenary celebrations has been concluded and the festivities have come to a close. But the Kannada film industry is pretty upset about why actress and former president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Dr Jayamala was left out being felicitated at the last day of the function held in Chennai.
Dr Jayamala was one among the eight dignitaries who was supposed to be honoured by the President of India on the last day of the celebration. But on Tuesday morning there was a news that Dr Jayamala might be left out of the felicitation because, there was not enough time allotted. But Dr Jayamala refused to believe the news saying that it was a mere rumour and she has no prior information from the KFCC nor SIFCC.
So, Dr Jayamala came to the venue in the evening and sat with the dignitaries who was supposed to receive the awards in the evening. She welcomed artistes like Rekha, Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi and others and was having a chat with them, that's when the Police came to her and asked her to move out of the awardees gallery as she has been allotted a separate seat elsewhere in the gallery. That's when Dr Jayamala came to known that she has been deceived the award for the evening. Dr Jayamala immediately left the auditorium.
So, why was Dr Jayamala left out in the last minute. She was not felicitated on the first day where 52 Sandalwood celebrities were felicitated on the stage. Dr Jayamala was scheduled to be felicitated on the last day of the function because she was the first women president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, National Awardee. But still she was deprived of her right.
Sources say, the authorities made it strict and restricted the number of awardees who are to be felicitated for Seven members from each state because of the time factor. Actually 20 seconds was allotted to each dignitary and the award was given away in the stipulated time apart from telling their profile. It was impossible because a dignitary like Ambarish who is known in both film and political circles, it was difficult to tell his profile in just 20 seconds. But yet such a measure had to be taken because of the time factor. There were more than 40 dignitaries to be felicitated and there were cultural programmes also. So, many dignitaries from various languages were left out of which, Dr Jayamala had to face the axe from the film industry.
One question remained to be answered is earlier it was decided only 7 members will be taking award from the president of India. Howcome from Karnataka 8 members list was sent to organisers with their biodata?
The 100 years celebration might have ended in a good note, but it was sad that a lady of Dr Jayamala was deprived of the award in the last minute.

The last day of the 100 Years Of Indian Films celebrations in Chennai is creating huge problems and heartburn for many. Today is the last day of the celebrations with programmes by all four south Indian film industries.
The last day's problems began early on Tuesday at the Nehru Stadium, which is the venue. Dancers went inside the venue for practice early in the morning. Some of them came out to pick up set properties. The police came after that. Now they are not allowing those who came out to pick the properties from going inside and those already inside from coming out.
Since President Pranab Mukherjee is attending the event, a huge security ring is in place and the usually tight security has been doubled.
Apart from this, the entire programme is turning out to be a Tamil Nadu government event rather than an Indian film event with the participation of other south industries becoming mere side shows.
For Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam industries, the time allotted for their programme is 20 minutes each but for Tamil films it is 40 minutes. Talking to Chitraloka, other industry people say that they have been working hard for this programme for three months and all they got was 20 minutes. A senior Kannada film senior personality said, "What we can do in 20 minutes. Within this 20 minutes they are felicitating eight personalities including Parvathamma Rajkumar, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Rajendra Singh Babu, Ambareesh, Jayamala, Dwarkish, Ravichandran and Veeranna Chitramandira. We had provided biodata in Kannada of all the eight. In today's function we are given just 20 seconds each to read the biodata of each awardee. Suddenly they say it should be in English and matter should only be connected to film industry. For Ambareesh it was to be mentioned that he was an actor, Member of Parliament and now minister. They have deleted all his political achievements. All the eight felicitations has to be done in 20 minutes including the cultural programme."
Sources told Kannada cultral programme head S Narayan has also not have badge till last night.
