Even as the entire country is opening up its mind to the terrorist attack in Uri and India's response to it, the people in Sandalwood who had the remote connection to Pakistan and its people are tight-lipped. From Salman Khan to Zee's Subhash Chandra the question of Pakistani artistes in films and television has become a heated topic.
Pakistani actress Veena Malik acted in the Kannada film Silk. No Sandalwood personality who worked in this film, from director Trishul, producer RV Venkatappa, actors Akshay, Sadhu Kokila, music composer Jessie Gift or anyone else have even made a public statement whether they would work with a Pakistani actor in the current situation. Veena Mallik came to Bengaluru and issued movie Tickets to the fans who were thrilled!
Another Kannada film Matte Mungaru was about an Indian who is held in a Pakistani prison for several years. The film starred Srinagar Kitty and was directed by Dwarki. It was produced by E Krishnappa who is a MLC. But none of the film team has spoken a word about the Pakistani created terrorism that is affecting India now.
Ex Minister and MLA CP Yogeshwar produced and acted in the film Sainika. The film was directed by Mahesh Sukhadhare and was about a soldier's life during and after a war with Pakistan. Neither Yogeshwar or Sukhadhare have made a statement about Pakistani terrorism.
Sarvabhouma movie starring Shivarajkumar, Mayuri is also on Indo - Pak subject which was directed by Mahesh Sukhdhare.
It is not compulsory for everyone to make a statement about every issue.
But film personalities who have made use of the Pakistani issues in their commercial films could at least make a statement condemning terrorism in such a time.
