MG Ramamurthy the producer of Majestic that launched Darshan as the lead actor has revealed about how the actor was chosen. In the ongoing controversy about Darshan challenging Sudeep's version of who suggested him for the film, Ramamurthy has cleard the air.

Speaking to Chitraloka Ramamurthy said that Sudeep did not suggest the name of Darshan for the film. Our film director PN Sathya had contacted sudeep and had told him the story which sudeep did not do it. We were searching of a suitable hero for the subject.

The name of Darshan for the lead role in the film was suggested by Anaji Nagaraj who was then a cinematographer and also by Suresh Gowdru. We have done so many preaameets during Majestic movie. If it was true we would have told that there itself. We don't know why these type of news comes now after 15 years. This is no healthy for our industry. I will continue to make films with Darshan. It was my first film and Darshan was the best actor for Majestic.

I am clear that Sudeep did not suggest Darshan's name for the film. It was Anaji Nagaraj," he said.

  • Mr Airavatha Album is Trendy

    mr airavatha image

Currently V Harikrishna may be the biggest and most popular composer in Sandalwood. But just a few years ago, he was known as the composer for Darshan's films. And not surprisingly their combination never failed. There would be  at least two or three good songs in every album.

Their latest film together Mr Airavatha has for songs in the jukebox. The first is the title song written by director AP Arjun. It is a typical hero worshipping song where Darshan's on screen image is praised as his personal achievements. This is the typical hero introduction song we find in commercial masala movies. It is for the fans of Darshan and will no doubt please them. Ranjith, Santhosh Venky, Chintan Vikas and Shashank Sheshagiri have sung this song.

    darshan_harikrishna4.jpg

The second song There Was A Ajji is a boy-teasing-girl song. No prizes for guessing Yogaraj Bhat as the lyricist. It is once again very typical of Bhat to come up with very different kinds of expressions while writing about very normal incidents. Hemanth has sung this song which should please youngsters.

Ka Talakattu is a peppy number and Indu Nagaraj shines. In an imaginative way Yograj Bhat has made the kaagunita as lyrics. Harikrishna too gives his voice for this song. The song looks like it will top the charts sooner or later.

The last song is written by Arm in and sung by Shashank Seshagiri and S Sunitha. This song is also experimental with its lyrics. Much of it is in reported speech as if in a conversation. Harikrishna has given it a very good musical touch.

Overall this album is typical of what you expect from a Darshan film. It should please his fans and nothing looks out of place. The songs are set to boost the film.

  • Munirathna Kurukshetra Review: An Epic Visual Spectacle 4/5*

    kurukshetra movie review

It cannot get any bigger as India's first-ever mythological epic in 3D marks the 50th film of Challenging Star Darshan. He simply roars with his career best, portraying 'Dhuryodhana' in producer Munirathna's version of Kurukshetra.

The magnum opus has managed to turn one of the most talked-about mythological tale into a spectacular experience with some of the best actors and technicians at work.

Presenting the epic drama in digital avatar is the biggest take away for the entire team of Kurukshetra right from the producer Munirathna who realised his 'dream into a reality' and then followed by a bunch of extremely talented cast and crew.

While the movie depicts the most important phase of Mahabharata from the point of view of Dhuryodhana, the rest of the crucial roles is also dealt carefully without doing injustice to them.

The crux of it being the battle of ideologies of justice versus injustice, is showcased in a well balanced act by the director Naganna.

Insofar as the multi-star cast, it is undoubtedly Darshan who leads the show with a majestic performance which will be remembered for a longtime as a personal milestone in his career. After Darshan, the list gets bigger with everyone chipping in with their career best, be it crazy star as Lord Krishna or Arjun Sarja as Karna and most of all the rebel star Ambareesh as Bheeshma Pitamaha. And, not to forget, Ravishankar as the cunningly intelligent Shakuni  The youngest of them all, Nikhil Kumaraswamy as Abhimanyu is impressive with a fair amount of screen presence in the second half. It's a fully loaded epic battle which emerges victorious in terms of expectations it carried ever since it was launched on a big scale.

Whereas the technical aspects are concerned, the digital output of it are satisfactory which in fact elevates the 3D experience for the audience. The script churned out of Gadha Yuddha from the epic writer Ranna is supported with apt dialogues while keeping in mind the understanding of the present generation audience along with the couple of 'beautifully' songs making it look grandeur before the war of war starts rolling. Both Meghana Raj and Hariprriya shine bright dancing to the classical tunes along with Darshan in between.

It's an epic treat for the fans of mythology packed with several surprises. Dhuryodhana might lose the war but goes on to win the hearts of many. Kudos to Munirathna and his entire team for turning an epic dream into reality and more importantly, presenting it in digital 3D avatar. Do not miss the epic action in full force at a theatre near you, be it 3D or 2D, it will definitely leave you amazed in the end serving justice to all the expectations.
