While there have been numerous actors in the Kannada film industry, who went on to become politicians but there have been only a handful who managed to become ministers in various State Governments.

Veteran actor Anant Nag had served as a state minister in J H Patel's cabinet in 1994 for over three and a half years. Following him, Ambareesh, Kumar Bangarappa, Umashree and Jayamala,CP Yogeshwar have served as ministers. The latest to join the bandwagon of Kannada actors who eventually became a minister is B C Pati. He recently took oath as minister in Shri B S Yeddyurappa's Cabinet.

The three time MLA from Hirekerur Assembly Constituency, was allocated the Forest Ministry on Monday. After serving in the police department for over 25 years, B C Patil made his acting debut in Nishkarsha after which he has acted in more than 25 films.

B C Patil's daughter Srishti Patil is all set to make her debut in 'Happy New Year' being directed by Pannaga Bharana and produced by her father B C Patil.Srishti says she was looking forward to act in films and that's when she heard the story of the film and liked the plot. 'I really loved the character and wanted to work in the film. Luckily I got the chance' says Srishti Patil.

Though Srishti is making is one of the female leads in the film, she has acted in a couple of films  as a child artiste. This is the first time, she is making her debut as a female lead and Srishti is paired opposite Diganth in this film.

Agriculture Minister BC Patil who is also a popular actor in the Kannada film industry and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Gopalaiah have provided ration kits for media persons covering Kannada films. On Tuesday, the two ministers personally came to hand over the kits to those working in the media. Former president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, Sa Ra Govindu was present. 

Gopalaiah said that the suggestion was made by BC Patil in the Cabinet meeting on Monday and he agreed upon. He said that people across all sections in the society are facing difficult times and it was the responsibility of the government to help them all. The proposal to help those in need in the film media was proposed by Sa Ra Govindu and KM Veeresh, he recalled. BC Patil said that there were requests to provide ration kits to 89 people and all of them are being provided with the kits.

BC Patil said that he responded to the request made by KM Veeresh who pointed out to him about the difficulties faced by film PROs, photographers, journalists and others who have had no work for over a month now. 

He thanked Gopalaiah and said, "I requested him to give some support from the government. He said not to worry about where it came from. To prevent any delay, he is providing all this from his own pocket. 25 kilograms of rice, 5 kilos of sugar and wheat, oil and other food ration are part of this kit. My sincere thanks to Gopalaiah on behalf of the film industry," he said. 

Sa Ra Govindu and KM Veeresh thanked the ministers on behalf of the film media workers and journalists.

The directorial debut of Pannaga Bharana, Happy New Year is running successfully all over Karnataka. Today morning BC Patil met Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and requested him to watch the movie Happy New Year. CM has agreed to watch the film next week.

Happy New Year is a multistarrer with over a dozen stars. It has one of the biggest star casts for a Kannada film. The film has five separate tracks that mingle to become a single plot. However there is no complications for the audience as it has been narrated in an entertaining way says the film team.

The cast include B. C. Patil, Saikumar, Vijaya Raghavendra, Diganth,  Dhananjay,  Sudharani,  Shruthi Hariharan,  Sonu Gowda, Margarita and Srushti Patil.

Pannaga Bharana debut film Happy New Year is all set to release on May 5th.  'Happy New Year' boasts of a huge star cast includes Vijay Raghavendra, Diganth, Dhananjay, Saikumar, B C Patil, Shruthi Hariharan, Sudharani, Shrushti Patil and others, while Yogi, Prajwal, Pranam, Manvitha, Krishna Tapanda and others are seen in a party song.

The film marks the return of B C Patil back to production after a gap of five years. Raghu DIxith has composed the songs, while Srisha Kudavalli is the cameraman.

Popular actor turned politician B C Patil, Agriculture Minister has kept his words to help the members of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, who are facing hardships during lockdown period following Coronavirus outbreak.

The minister had assured to lend his hand during his last visit to distribute food kits to the media persons along with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Gopalaiah. It is when Former KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu had requested Mr. Patil to extend the facilities to the members of KFCC.

Mr. Patil who started his career as a police officer and then as an actor is known after his hit film 'Kourava'. "After making Kourava, I was left with no money and not even Rs 50 in my pocket and now it feels great that I could be of some help to the KFCC. Well known director T S Nagabharana's son Pannaga is finally turning director with 'Happy New Year' and the film was launched on Wednesday morning.

The launch was attended by Pannaga, T S Nagabharana, B C Patil, Vanaja Patil, Dhananjay, Vijay Raghavendra, Sonu, Srisha Kudavalli and others. The film is a multi-starrer and Dhananjay, Shruthi Hariharan, Diganth, Sonu, Vijay Raghavendra and others play prominent roles in the film.

Actor-producer B C Patil who was away from producing films in the last few years is pack is producing this film.
