He says that the idea struck him during his early days as a filmmaker. "I was watching a short film wherein the mythological character of Hiranyakashipu is seen asking his son Prahalada on whereabouts of Srimannarayana, and when Vishnu appears, the son says it with utmost devotion - Avane Srimannarayana. Hearing it, a thought struck and I imagined the introduction scene along with the title 'Avane Srimannarayana," he says.

"This is one of the reasons, I have a fictional town Amaravathi. Though R K Narayan has written Malgudi Days, the way Shankar Nag has showcased it on the screen is amazing, which is why it is still considered as the best Indian TV series till date. I would be satisfied even if I end up accomplishing half of what Shankar Nag did it is such short span of time," he wraps up.

  • Kirik Party Review

    kirik party movie still

Kirik Party is one of the best youthful stories that has come in Sandalwood. It is a campus love story which has lots of fun elements that students experience in college. There are so many things that is good in this film including music, dialogues, background score and cinematography. There is also very good performances from not only the main cast but also supporting actors. Overall it is a film that will enthral students and remind those who have already left college about their own college life.

Almost the entire film happens in a college campus. There is a gang of boys who do what an average student does in college and the hostel. There is a very beautiful girl to whom everyone is attracted to. Rakshit Shetty plays Karna who is the head of this gang of boys. During the three years in college, all their lives and perspectives change, but their friendship stands the test of time. To know how, you have to watch this entertaining and inspiring film.

The film also has dramatic elements but nothing is like a format. The film tends to be a bit slow in the second half but even throughout it tries to have a laid back feel to it. It is a deliberate attempt to slow down the tempo and let the feeling sink in.

The music is one of the biggest contributor to the success of the film. All the songs in the film take the narration forward and tell the story. So you have to watch them to understand the continuity. The songs are interesting and enjoyable. The other enjoyable thing in the film is the dialogues. They are funny and witty and just like what college students speak.

Kirik Party is a very good attempt by a young team including Rishab Shetty the director and Rakshit Shetty who has also written the story. The two heroines Rashmika Mandanna and Samyuktha Hegde have done a beautiful job with their roles. They are very promising prospects for Sandalwood. Ajaneesh Lokanath's music and dialogues by Abhijith Mahesh and Dhananjay Ranjan are commendable.

  • Mercury Movie Review, Chitraloka Rating 4/5

    mercury movie revew

The movie mercury is an unusual experience for the audience. It combines an experimental silent narrative with horror and suspense. The film has no dialogues but it is made up for by very good background score and music. Without the need for dialogues the director has managed to express his thoughts and ideas and the story through just the visuals and acting alone.

The film starts with a group of friends going for a reunion party. After a late night party the friends go out for a drive. The meet with an accident and after that they are on the run for their lives. A mysterious entity is trying to kill them. Woven into this suspense thriller is also a story about industrial pollution. The place where the five friends are trapped is a factory that has been shutdown after polluting the local area with Mercury. 84 people have died because of the Mercury poisoning. How are these two things connected? The director as intelligently mixed these two narratives.

Prabhu Deva gives an impressive performance in this movie. Horror suspense and thrilling elements are all part and parcel of Mercury. Apart from dialogues there are also no songs in the film so it is very fast and every scene is a thriller.

On the technical front the cinematography the editing and background score are top class. Full credit should go to the director for having the conviction to make a movie without dialogues that too when he has a serious subject to tell.

Mercury is one of the better films that has released this year and it is full value for money proposition.
