Last week's releases: Sudeep, Upendra starrer Mukunda Murari and Yash starrer Santhu Straight Forward had created lot of curiosity not only in the film industry circles but also with the audience.

There was lot of expectations for both the movies and both movies are doing very good collections at the box office. According to Gandhinagar trade pundits Mukunda Murari will collect around 10 crores share to the producers and Santhu Straight Forward will collect around Rs 12 crores to producer in the first week. They said releasing both the star movies on the same day was both an advantage and also a disadvantage. The advantage is that almost all screens in Karnataka are screening Kannada films. The disadvantage is that with the clash of the big producers each producer may lose around Rs 2-3 crores in the first week. Each of these films would have collected an additional Rs 2 crore each if released solo.

Speaking to Chitraloka Santhu producer K Manju said he is very happy with the response for the movie. "Distributor Jayanna said this movie may not do the collections what we had got from Masterpiece in the first week, but definitely it will cross more than Rs 10 crores in the first week," he said.

Mukunda Murari BKT distributor Jack Manju told Mukunda is doing very well. The reports coming is very good. It will pick up in the second week since family audience are turning towards the theaters.

Producer K Manju has kept up his promise and has cancelled the shooting of Yash starrer Santhu Straight Forward scheduled on Monday. In the afternoon, many producers had protested against the ouster of actor Ambarish as the Housing Minister.

K Manju who was present during the press meet had said that he would cancel the shooting scheduled on Monday to protest against Ambarish's ouster. Likewise K Manju has cancelled the shoot.

Meanwhile, many other shootings are also likely to be cancelled.

Well known producer K Manju says his new film 'Santhu Straight Forward' will collect 25 crores and will be a huge blockbuster.

K Manju was talking during the press meet of the film at Green House in Bangalore on Monday evening.

'The film has got a huge opening and the first day itself the collection was 2.82 crores. The second day saw a 20% rise in the collection and I think the film will collect more than 25 crores totally. However, some sections are trying to sabotage the film, by spreading bad rumours about the film. I pray to the people of Karnataka not to pay attention to such rumours and support us by watching the film' said K Manju.

Almost all single screen theaters in Karnataka will be screening Kannada films from tomorrow. This is a bonus for Karnataka Rajyostava. With many films doing well at the box office and the release of Mukunda Murari and Santhu Straight Forward in nearly 300 screens each, over 700 of the 750 theatres in Karnataka will be screening Kannada films film from October 28.

Distributors and exhibitors Chitraloka spoke to say that this is an unprecedented number which was not seen for many years. MM and SSF among them will occupy not less than 500 theatres and many more shows in multiplexes also.

Of the remaining around 250 single screens, Nagarahavu, Dodmane Hudga, Jaguar, Dana Kayonu and Rama Rama Re will have between 25 to 60 screens each. Even big other language films are unable to stand up to this avalanche of Kannada movies.

The Hindi film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has all of 27 shows in single-screen theatres in Bengaluru. In many of these single screens it has managed to get only one or two shows. Tamil fantasy film Kashmora, which is said to be the highest budget film for actor Karthik has managed to get only 30 shows in single-screen theatres in Bengaluru. Kannada films have occupied all the traditional theatres that screened Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films.

There is a big clash expected at the Sandalwood box office this month-end. Two of the biggest films of the year, the multi-starrer Mukunda Murari starring Upendra and Sudeep and the Yash starrer Santhu Straight Forward are releasing on the same day.

Mukunda Murari is releasing on October 28, the film makers have announced. K Manju the producer of Santhu Straight Forward has also said that he is releasing his film on October 28. Both the films are looking forward to en cash the long holiday season. As many as five holidays are available that week and any film would expect to attract a large number of holiday audience.

It has been a while since two big films have clashed at the Kannada box office. It is always the attempt of film makers not to clash at the box office when the films are big-budget ones.

Especially films of big stars avoid a clash so as not to eat into each other's collections. But this time, it seems a clash is inevitable as both the producers are adamant on releasing the film on October 28 itself.

Upendra and Sudeep starrer 'Mukunda Murari' and Yash starrer 'Santhu Straight Forward' which was released on the same day has completed 50 day run at the box-office. 

'Mukunda Murari' is directed by Nandakishore. Apart from Upendra, Sudeep, Nikitha, Ravishankar, Avinash, Devaraj and others have played prominent roles in the film. 'Santhu Straight Forward' had Yash, Radhika Pandith, Ananth Nag, Shyam and others in main roles. Mahesh Rao directed the film for producer K Manju.

While, 'Mukunda Murari' has completed 50 days in Menaka and other theaters, 'Santhu Straight Forward' has completed 50 days in Kapali and other theaters.

Trailers of Santhu Straightforward and Dodmane Hudga have crossed one million views each on Youtube. Two weeks ago, Santhu Straightforward became the first Kannada film trailer to cross the 10 lakh view mark on the video sharing network.

It has now reached nearly 13 lakh views. Now Dodmane Hudga film trailer has also crossed the 10 lakh view mark and is at 11 lakh. The videos of Kannada films have begun to finally make a mark on online platforms like Youtube. Even film by newcomers are becoming popular.

The trailer of Tarle Village has crossed 8 lakh views. In songs, the video song of Kotigobba 2's Saaluthillave has reached 29.5 lakh views. Dodmane Hudga song Thraas Aakkathi has reached 26.2 lakh views.

Yash's new film Santhu Straight Forward is likely to release this month itself. The film team is working tirelessly to get the film to release on October 27. The patch up shooting work for the film is underway in Kanakapura currently and one more song has to be shot. The shooting schedule requires 7 more days.  The technical work on the film

The technical work on the film is however up to date. Shooting will be completed by October 10 latest. Sources in the film team say the film will be sent for Censor certification in advance and the film will be definitely ready for release on October 27.

The songs of Yash and Radhika Pandith starrer 'Santhu Straight Forward' is all set to be released on the festival day of Vijayadashami. The songs this time will be released exclusively on Radiocity 91.1 FM. The songs will be released tomorrow morning from 7AM onwards on 'Ithalakadi Morning' with RJ Sowjanya.

The shooting for the film is completed and the team is planning to release the film during the Deepavali season.

Yash and Radhika Pandith starrer 'Santhu Straight Forward' which was released last week is doing good business all over. Yash who had not promoted the film till now, had come to the media meet first time on Friday.

Asked about why he restrained from attending the media meet or promoting 'Santhu Straight Forward', Yash said that he strained because it should not affect the sentiments of the farmers.

'Before the release of the film, there was some tiff with the media regarding the farmers issue. Some said that I have been using the farmers issue to promote the film. I am not such an insensitive person to use the farmers issue to promote the film. I really don't have the necessity to use such an issue. So, I restrained from promoting the film. I have not talked anything about the film so far. Now that the film is released, I will talk about the film' said Yash.

Yash said he is very much happy about the success of the film. 'I wish to thank one and all for the success of the film. The team had dedicated eight months for the film and the success is because of the dedication of the team' said Yash.

The latest film starring the real life pair of Yash and Radhika Pandit, Santhu Straight Forward has broken records big time. According to industry insiders, the audio rights of the film have been sold for Rs 108 Lakhs.

This is the highest for a Kannada movie so far. But Chitraloka could not confirm if the rights is for audio alone or includes the DVD rights for the film which is usually sold together. Even if it is a package deal Rs 108 lakhs is a huge amount and a mind-blowing record.

The film is produced by K Manju and directed by Mahesh Rao.
