  • Babruvahana Set for Gulf

    The new old film, Babruvahana, that released last week is set for release in several Gulf centers later this month. The 1977 film which was digitally enhanced and given the latest sound technology was released last week to a good response all over Karnataka.

    Now the Rajkumar starrer film is also in demand from overseas audience. To fulfil this demand for the film, it is being scheduled for release many centres in the Gulf region. It will be screened in several emirates of UAE and other countries in the Middle-East.

    As of now, some of the places it is scheduled to be released later this month include Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. In Oman it is scheduled for release in Salalah, Muscat and Sohar.

  • Babruvahana to be Released for Dr Rajakumar's Birthday

    Two years back Dr Rajakumar's evergreen hit 'Kasturi Nivasa' was released by K C N Mohan. This year his brother and producer K C N Chandrashekhar is all set to release Dr Rajakumar's another classic film 'Babruvahana' with technology on his birthday.


    'Babruvahana' was directed by Hunsur Krishnamurthy and the film was released 35 years back. Now K C N Chandru is all set to release the film in DI, DTS and 7.1 Surround Sound. K C N Chandru has announced that the film will be released during the occasion of Dr Rajakumar's birthday and the film will be hitting the screens on the 22nd of April this year.

  • Rs 60 lakhs Spent on the Up Gradation of Babruvahana

    Dr Rajakumar's iconic film 'Babruvahana' which has been upgraded with new technology is all set to be released on the 22nd of April, two days prior to Dr Rajakumar's birthday. The film has been upgraded with 7.1 sound technology along with DTS and DI. While 35 lakhs was spent for the production of the film 39 years back, 60 lakhs has been spent for the upgradation of the film.

    On Tuesday afternoon, a special show of the upgraded film was organised by K C N Mohan and veteran actress B Sarojadevi, veteran director Bhargava who had worked as an associate to Hunsur Krishnamurthy for the film and actor Ramakrishna who played the role of Krishna was present during the screening and shared their experiences.

  • SC Srikanth The Cinematographer Behind Movie Magic no more

    One of the most celebrated cinematographers of the Kannada film industry, SV Srikanth is no more. He breathed his last yesterday evening at his residence in Bengaluru. He was 87 years old. 

    He started is career in 1960 which spanned four decades. He won the Karnataka State Award for best cinematography there times for the film's Margadarshi, Gejje Pooje and Upasane. He worked as the director of photography for 60 film in his career. 

    At a time when computer graphics were unheard of he created some of the best remembered trick shots in Kannada. The best remembered is in Babruvahana where Dr Rajkumar in a double role is captured in a single frame. Srikanth was the cinematographer for many of Rajkumar's films. 

    The films include Swarna Gowri, Premamayi, Manasiddare Marga, Bahadur Gandu, Na Ninna Bidalaare, Hannele Chiguridaaga, Ade Kannu, Na Ninna Bidalaare, Shravana Bantu, Rani Maharani, Vijay Vikram, Edakalu Guddada Mele. Srikanth leaves behind his wife and son.

    Gandhinagar's main theater Triveni which was closed for the last two years due to various reasons is all set to be reopened on Sunday and will be screening Dr Rajakumar's cult classic 'Babruvahana'.

    There was a news that Triveni will be screening once again last April itself. The theater was also renovated. But somehow the screenings got postponed. Now the theater is all set to be reopened and the theater will be screening 'Babruvahana' from January 22nd.
