Actress turned director Suhasini has said that Kannada is the heart of Indian film industry and Kannada is one of the pioneer in parallel cinema. Suhasini was talking at the inauguration ceremony of the 07th Bangalore International Film Festival held in Ambedkar Bhavan in Bangalore on Thursday.
'I love Kannada and I have acted in more number of Kannada films rather than in Tamil. I may stay in Chennai, but it is Manirathnam's home. But I have a house here' said Suhasini.
'I don't accept Rajendra Singh Babu's words that Kannada film industry is in ICU and special care must be taken. Kannada is a pioneer in parallel cinema and many directors including G V Iyer, Girish Kasaravalli, Girish Karnad, Puttanna Kanagal and others have take the Kannada cinema to other level. We being a part of other language learnt from Kannada so much those days. Kannada is the heart of Indian cinema and I don't accept it is in ICU. I am really jealous of this industry about the films that it makes and I am sad that in spite of acting in so many Kannada films, I have not got an opportunity in acting a parallel film' said Suhasini.
Talking about the festival, 'when the whole world is getting separated, one thing that is uniting everybody is cinema. I saw the collection of films at the BIFFES this year and the selection in mind blowing' concluded Suhasini.
