  • Avane Srimannarayana review: Chitraloka Rating 4 /5*

    avane srimnanarayana movie review

He is finally here after three years. As they say, somethings in life are worth waiting and Avane Srimannarayana easily falls under the category wherein despite arriving late, it doesn't fail to deliver on the promises it assured to its beloved audience. A popular dialogue from a movie starring Superstar Rajinikath which translates to as - that he is always brand new (latest) even if he at times comes late, fits perfectly to Avane Srimannarayana and its three years of journey.

Rakshit Shetty and his talented team does it again by setting the standard higher with newness in filmmaking. Furthermore, every minute detail in it has been carefully crafted to elevate the experience of watching the movie on the silver screen, be it visual, audio and the humour laced fantasy thriller combined with some great performances.

Avane Srimannarayana is special on various account, from daring to experiment to finally living up to its expectations. Like Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Rakshit and his seven oods team which churned this tale, has worked on every character to align with the core entertainment.

The above careful considerations is the obvious reason for stretching the duration to over three hours. However, the bigger the better proves good for Avane Srimannarayana. The making justifies every single frame which is filled with an extraordinary work of art. It takes the audience to a unique world of fantasy packed with every possible entertaining element available. In short, it is an amazing treat to the audience, who have been longing for such a breathtaking extravaganza.

Insofar as the tale, it is better to experience than reading about it, but to incite the curiosity, it is set in the fantasy place called 'Amaravathi' and revolves around the search for a heist hidden by a bunch of drama artists. Despite killing drama artists, the head of the bad guys fails to find the heist, and this makes him take a vow to destroy everyone from the family of drama artists and also announces that whosoever finds the heist would be the next head of their honourable clan of criminals. It results in a tussle between two brothers of the 'criminal' head!.

After 15 years, comes the entry of Narayana, the super cool cop played by Rakshit, who comes up with a scheme of his own to trace the hidden heist. He encounters Lakshmi, a journalist played by Shanvi Srivastava. What follows next is a rollercoaster of fun, thrill and excitement right till the end. Rakshit as Narayan is fantastic, and Shanvi Srivastava is as good as Lakshmi, worth every penny, who has excelled with sheer hard work for over the years. Lending her own voice to her character deserves appreciation. The rest of the cast have put in their best for this one which has no doubt that will be remembered for long, setting a milestone in the Kannada film industry.

Music and the background score and the camera work stands out. They are the eyes and ears to the face of Avane Srimannarayana.

Narayana awaits your arrival at a theatre near you. Go watch this fantastic fantasy, which will leave you all spellbound. That's a guarantee from Sachin, Rakshit, Shanvi and ASN team including the man who dared to invest in their dreams - Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah.

  • Geetha Review - Gold Shines: Chitraloka Rating 3.5/5*

    geetha movie review

After the magnificent Kurukshetra and Pailwaan, it's now the turn of golden star to shine with a perfect tribute to an important movement in the history of Karnataka - Gokak Chaluvali, and further added with the trademark emotional tale of a love story twisted between two different generations.

The debut director, Vijay Nagendra, who has written this beautiful piece, certainly deserves appreciation for presenting Ganesh in two different shades, one which as an angry young man and another in his usual avatar as a lover boy with a golden touch to it.

With an impressive story backed with equally great screenplay added with talented cast and crew, Geetha turns out to be a well made romantic drama. The infusion of Gokak Chaluvali is an added treat for the audience, which highlights the importance of the agitation, which the majority of the present generation is unaware of.

Insofar as Geetha's tale is concerned, it is split in two dimensions, told from the point of view of Akash played by Ganesh from the present day and the other which is a flashback into the 1980s, the peak time of Gokak Chaluvali. Shankar who was one of the leading men, fighting for the Kannada language and its existence. The younger Shankar is played by Ganesh and the elderly is played by Dynamic Hero Devaraj.

Thereafter, it is twisted with a cute love story and the drama which continues for decades. While golden star shines with an angry avatar and as well as his signature act of a lover boy, it is Shanvi Srivastava who is the pick amongst the three main female protagonist. She tops it up by lending her own voice for one of the two different roles sets in the 80s and as the modern day pretty girl.

That apart, Prayaga Martin and Parvathy Arun have a distinctive character which adds value to the drama. Sudharani, Devaraj, Achyuth Kumar and Rangayana Raghu plays a short and sensibile role.

It's a highly recommended one, as Geetha delivers on most of the account. Go fall in love at a theatre near you.

He says that the idea struck him during his early days as a filmmaker. "I was watching a short film wherein the mythological character of Hiranyakashipu is seen asking his son Prahalada on whereabouts of Srimannarayana, and when Vishnu appears, the son says it with utmost devotion - Avane Srimannarayana. Hearing it, a thought struck and I imagined the introduction scene along with the title 'Avane Srimannarayana," he says.

He goes on to share that they retained both the introduction scene and the title of the movie while they have developed the story with inclusions of numerous characters with series of changes to it before the script was finally done.

Further, on the expectations, the actor-director says that he is not at all nervous but cannot wait to see how audience will react to their three years of hard work.

Talking about his inspiration, Rakshit says that legendary filmmaker Shankar Nag's works especially his Malgudi Days really inspired him immensely. "This is one of the reasons, I have a fictional town Amaravathi. Though R K Narayan has written Malgudi Days, the way Shankar Nag has showcased it on the screen is amazing, which is why it is still considered as the best Indian TV series till date. I would be satisfied even if I end up accomplishing half of what Shankar Nag did it is such short span of time," he wraps up.
