Last Friday the horror film Chandrika released and is doing good business. This Friday another horror film Tammisra is releasing. But this is only the beginning. There are some 15 to 20 horror films that are in various stages of production in Sandalwood. Even big stars are getting into horror with Upendra's next said to be Kalpana 2, the sequel to the horror film Kalpana. 

Other horror films coming up include Alone, Naani, Danger Zone, Dhigbhayam, Jwalantam, Shiradi Ghat, Kanchana and Last Bus. 

Meanwhile the horror film that is leading this pack is doing good at the box office. Chandrika collected Rs 1.15 lakh in Abhinay theatre on its opening day Friday. Many people who did not want to release Kannada films released in that theatre were surprised. There were no shows on Saturday due to the Karnataka bandh. On Sunday the film collected Rs 1.5 lakh from Abhinaya. The film is also maintaining good collections in the rest of the theatres in Bengaluru and Karnataka. This could prove helpful to other horror films that are coming up for release.

Uppi's latest is the sequel to his earlier horror-comedy Kalpana. This is also the remake of the Tamil film Kanchana 2. Upendra has already been seen in this kind of film and this film takes the entertainment value two steps ahead. With Arjun Janya's brilliant music, a story that has so many twists and turns, mind blowing acting by Upendra, Priyamani and Avantika Shetty, the film is a treat for fans and a happy outing for the family to theatres. But it has been given an A certificate by the Censor Board so viewer discretion is advised. Young children may have to avoid it.

The film is once again about a hero who is very very scared of ghosts. He fears at the very mention of the name. But he is the one who gets caught up with the problem of ghosts. Then it is a fun ride with lots of horror and scary situations and images to enjoy.

Upendra is in a double role. The first one is of Raghava a cameraman in a TV channel called Green. When the TV team goes to shoot a horror programme, Raghava is called for the job. Despite his fear of ghosts he goes because he is in love with the serial's director. There the crew face all kinds of trouble from a ghost. But just when they seem to have escaped, Avantika Shetty is possessed by the ghost. Then Upendra is also possessed by another ghost.

The two ghosts were in love in their previous life. In the second half the story of ghosts are revealed. Upendra is now Jade Shiva and Priyamani is his lover. How they were tricked and killed is the flashback. They decide to take revenge while in the bodies of Raghava and the TV director. But the villains from the past are also trying to get rid of the ghosts. Who will win goes on till the end.

Actor-producer Rajendra said he is happy about the collections of his latest film Kalpana 2 starring Upendra and Priyamani and says that the film is likely to collect Rs 10 crores in the first week of its release. The film has been released in 201 theaters including 27 multiplex screens.

Recently, Rajendra had organised a success meet of the film and thanked the audience for making a success. Director Anantharaju, Shilpa Srinivas who was present at the success meet also thanked one and all for the great support.

Upendra opined that the efforts of the team members were sincere that is the reason for the movie's success. Priyamani said that the film unanimously belongs to Upendra.

Actor-director Upendra who had taken a break from acting because of 'Uppi-2' has signed not one but four films back to back. The first among the four is 'Kalpana 2' which is a remake of 'Kanchana 2'. The film was launched recently. The film will be followed by a remake of 'O My God'. The film is being produced by producer Jayashri Devi. More details about the film is yet awaited.

After these two films, Upendra will be seen in a film being produced by M N Kumar and a film being directed by senior director Naganna.

Real Star Upendra has starred in both the films in the horror-comedy series of Kalpana. The second one Kalpana 2 is successfully running in theatres now. But it seems he many not be in the next part of the series. The producer of Kalpana 2, Dr Rajendra told Chitraloka that he is preparing to launch Kalpana 3.

He will not only produce but also direct this film said the actor-producer who has made films like Kalla Police and Gandhinagara before. But interesting point he mentioned was that the star cast of Kalpana 3 is not finalised.

This could be an indication that Upendra will not be part of it as he should be an automatic choice considering he has started in two films of the series already. But there is another catch. Both the films were remakes of Tamil movies by Raghava Lawrence. Another sequel is not yet released in Tamil. So Kalpana 3 will be an original film.

Real Star Upendra is all set to don the greasepaint again from tomorrow. The muharat of his new film Kalpana 2 is scheduled for Wednesday. The muharat is scheduled at Basavanagudi's iconic Big Bull Temple on Wednesday morning.

This is Upendra's first film after Uppi2 through which he returned to direction earlier this year.
