    Actor, director and Producer Suneel Puranik, who is more popular for his works in Kannada television, says that he feels proud to be the chairman of Karnataka Chalanchitra Academy.

    Speaking to the media after taking charge of the post, he was reacting to criticisms over his selection and eligibility to hold the post of KCA chairman. He goes on to add that he has more than 32 years of experience in the industry with 25 films to his credit as an actor along with experience in production. 

    "I have acted in the films made by senior filmmakers such as G V Iyer, Somashekar, Dinesh Babu, Phaniramchandra, Girish Kasaravalli and others. That apart, I have the experience of working as a jury and as well as judge for National Film Awards on three occasions," he says.

    On criticism, he says that it is very much needed to work effectively. He wraps up, saying that his immediate duty is to fix the schedule for next Bengaluru International Film Festival.

    He thanks Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa for appointing him as KCA Chairman.

  • Kannada Film Festival in New Delhi

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy has organised a three day Kannada Film Festival for the Delhi Kannadas from April 16th-18th. The Film Festival is being held at Siri Fort Auditorium 2 and a total of nine films including 'Thithi', 'Nanu Avanalla Avalu', 'Rangitaranga', 'Harivu', 'Vidaya', 'Krishna Leela', 'Mr And Mrs Ramachari', 'First Rank Raju' and 'Shivalinga' will be presented.

    Daily there will be three shows and the morning show will start at 11 AM and the next two shows will be held at 2.30 and 5.30 PMrespectively.

  • Kasaravalli and Sheshadri to Write Books for KCA

    Senior directors Girish Kasaravalli and P Sheshadri are all set to write books about world cinema in Kannada. The books are being published by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and the Academy's president S V Rajendra Singh Babu himself confirmed that Kasaravalli and Sheshadri are all set to write books about world cinema in Kannada.

    Rajendra Singh Babu was talking during the 'Chitrapatha' book released being published by KCA. The book is a collection of various rare photographs of veteran still photographer Ashwathanarayan. The veteran still photographer has preserved more than four lakh negatives in the last 40 years and among such negatives, the KCA has published a book called 'Chitrapatha' which was released by Professor Baraguru Ramachandrappa.

    Rajendra Singh Babu said that apart from bringing 10 different books in the coming years, the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy is also planning to start Film Appreciation Courses in Mysore, Shivamogga, Gulbarga and other places apart from preserving the negatives of old films and converting them in digital format. For this KCA has sought the help from National Film Archives. KCA is also planning to launch a website soon.

  • KCA Awards For Srinivasmurthy, Doddanna, BV Radha

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy has announced its annual awards for Kannada film personalities. A total of 15 awards has been announced.

    The winners this year are GK Srinivasmurthy, Advani Lakshmi Devi, MS Umesh, S Doddanna BV Radha (acting) KV Raju (direction) C Seetharam (producer) Kumar Shttar (exhibitor) Pal S Chandani (distributor), BL Venu (writer), SV Srikanth (cinematographer), Devi (Choreographer), NL Ramanna (workers) and Ram Shetty (regional cinema).

    Each winner will get a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento. The awards function will be held at the Town Hall on March 3. 

  • KCA Organises Bengali And Kannada Film Festival

    The Federation of Film Societies of India and the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy is jointly organizing a three day Bengali and Kannada Film Festival in Bengaluru and Kolkatta.

    The festival is being organised to create an opportunity for the exchange of cultures between the two states. The festival is being held at Chamundeshwari Studio from 16th to 18th June 2017. The three day festival will be inaugurated by 'Charulata' fame Madhabi Mukherjee at 5 PM tomorrow. Apart from that Girish Kasaravalli, Nagabharana, Bratya Basu, and others will be present at the occasion.

    Similarly the Kannada Film Festival is organised from July 21st to 23rd at the Nandan Complex in Kolkatta.

  • KCA organises Indian Panorama Film Festival

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy has organised Indian Panorama Film Festival from March 17th to 20th at the Chamundeshwari Preview theater in Bangalore. The festival will be inaugurated at 5 PM on 17th followed by screening of Malayalam film.

    A total of 15 films including short films and documentaries across India will be showcased in this film festival. Apart from screening of films there will be workshops on cinematography, editing and making of short films and documentaries.

    The festival is organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy along with Department of Information and Public Relations, Directorate of Film Festivals and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Government of India.

  • KCA To Cebrate Dr Rajakumar's 91st Birthday

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy is all set to celebrate the 91st birth anniversary of Kannada icon Dr Rajakumar on Wednesday (April 24th) in Bangalore.

    The program will be inaugurated by Professor K S Nisar Ahmed, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman Nagaithalli Chandrashekhar, Shivarajakumar, Raghavendra Rajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar, Yogaraj Bhatt KFCC president S A Chinnegowda and others will be attending the function.

    The program is organised at the Ravindra Kalakshetra at 5 in the evening. The program is jointly organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and Information Department.

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy has decided to celebrate the 90th birth anniversary of Kannada icon Dr Rajakumar on 24th (Tuesday).

    The programme is jointly organised by the KCA and the Information Department and will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bangalore. The programme is organised at 6 in the evening.

    The programme will be attended by Shivarajakumar, Raghavendra Rajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar, KFCC president Sa Ra Govindu and others.

  • KCA to Honour National Award Winners

    The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy is all set to honour the National Award winners on the 06th of April at the Chamundeshwari Studio in Bangalore. The honour includes awardees Rukkoji Rao (for his book on Dr Rajakumar), Ram Reddy (for 'Thithi' which won the best Regional Film award), O P Srivatsava (for his documentary on Girish Kasaravalli called 'Life in Metaphors') and Jacob Verghese (for his documentary called 'Dribbling with their Future').
