you and upendra are both very good directors.  so did you feel any ego clashes while making the movie superstar? and how was it working with upendra?
I call Upendra as I,I,I. Means Inteligent, Implusive, Idiot!.

  • Bhanu Prakash, Kolar

  • Naanu, New york
Still from NPHYour film "America America" was good and rationalistic. But why NPH was so useless. I mean what was the theme of the film? Nothing but "love". Any how I Enjoyed some of your films.
Answer is there is your question. That’s the reason audience make a super hit success of `useless’ NPH? Don’t expect same menu in everyday.

  • Satisha BR, Bangalore
What’s your contribution to our Society and for poor? What have you done for our society?
Being a poor, with hard work I came up without burdening the society. This is the biggest contribution, living without troubling anybody.

  • Sampath Gowda, Kanakapura
What is definition of love in your opinion! Please answer honestly sir?
Love is searching for completeness which never completes!

  • Devendra, Bangalore
NagathiNatively I am from AP, I thought kannada directors are not strength enough in giving good products, but I had changed my opinion after watching your "America, America", even for "Nanna preeti..." I just rushed to the first show, that much of interest created your films in me..? and by watching Nanna preeti... I would like to advice you, better you work out in narrating in a better way and selecting the artists also... And my main question is "How you develop a story line?"
Thanks for your appreciation and suggestion and regarding the story development each director has their own style. Here it is very difficult to explain my style of working.

  • Prashanth KM, Mangalore
I heard from few days back through newspaper that u are going to direct Vishnu's film. I want to know when u are going to start that film and what role Vishnu is doing in that film. Is it thrilling role? Can I expect superb performance from Vishnu and a evergreen movie?
Vishnu acted in a guest role in my Kotreshi Kanasu. We have a plan to work together. But I don’t know when.

  • Dadakhalandar
Why don't you make historical movies?
    That’s my dream.

  • Raghu, Sacramento, USA
NagathiI would like you make Kannada movies that are more sensible and appealing. The movie u directed Nanna Preethiya Hudugi was not up to your mark. We need films like undu hoda kondu hoda. Please forget about America in your next movies.
Are you a green card holder?

  • Sahadev, Bangalore
I am fan of yours. I have all of your movies. The latest NPH was superb. But I am not happy with one of your attitude. Always you condem Brahmins in your film. What is the reason. Can i expect wholehearted answer?
My beloved wife is a Brahmin!

NagathiI have been closely following, thro' the news papers and Television,  the Kannada film industry. Please tell me whether kannada films and the language itself needs people like Rajendra Sing Babu or Sara Govind to defend it, Who probably are not good at the language. Is Kannada so weak that it needs so much support from KFCC or any individuals for that matter? Why do they all make such a hue & cry about remakes & dubbed versions. When can we really see a Titanic or a Godzilla in Kannada. Are our neighbouring states luckier? Is KFCC not responsible in sending us to non Kannada films for the sake of sheer grandeur and entertainment? Please don't give a diplomatic answer.
Kannada is a very rich language in all aspects. To uphold the heritage all individuals should feel proud of Kannada instead of blaming each other. It is very difficult to create Titanic or Godzilla because of the small market. We don’t have national and international market. Please don’t have inferiority as a Kannadiga. Let us work, all of us to uplift quality of the Kannada culture in all aspects of our life. Being a author, director this is my responsibility. That’s all I can say.

  • Srinivasa Murthy, J.P.Nagar
Any Plan is there in doing a movie with Dr Raj kuma's Production?
Right now there is no plan. I am great fan of Dr. Raj.

  • D.R. Jayanth and J.M. Veeresh, Bangalore
Do you think that the facilities provided in theatres for viewing kannada films in Bangalore okay?  We don’t feel so we also request you to see to it that all your forthcoming films are made only in dts with high quality sound.
I am not happy with the present system. Of course the degeneration in all fields is affected film field too.

  • Thriveni, NJ
    Neevu  innu mundhe  bareyodilva sir?
Neenu `Hai Bangalore’ patrike odthaa ilvaa Chinnu?

  • Nagadeep. Bangalore
Nagathi receiving National AwardMy question is that why do you make use of talents who are not kannadiga basically like in "Baa Nalle Madhuchandrake" heroine or Dhyan of your last movie? Why don't you give oppurtunity to kannada people and justify your love towards "SWA-make" movies.
I am only the director one who conducted a free walk in interview in different places of Karnataka and interviewed more than 6,000 applicants personally. Being Kannada professor, author I am sincerely trying to promote Kannada talents. If you see my past Tara, Umashri, Karibasavaiah, B. Jayashree, Ramesh, Hema, Suman Nagarkar, Deepali, K. Shivaramu, Priyog, Vijaya Raghavendra…. All these artists and technicians got a unique opportunity to express their talent through my films. I my experience even though there are lot of kannada talents, they won’t have respect towards kannada cinema. They don’t speak kannada even though kannadigas basically kannadigas are not coming forward aggressively. Still I am struggling lot to promote our kannadigas. After NPH success it became a trend setting movie, there are nearly 40 new talents are coming up with the new wave. Don’t you think this is my contribution?

  • Dinesh Kumar, Bangalore
You kept name as Nagathihalli & now you have became America Chandrasheker?

How is it you found the NRI girl (Deepali) to do Nanna Preethiya Hudugi? Usually they are well-educated and are into more professional courses and more serious about studies than our girls.
That’s true. Along with that there is a long form of NRI is `NOT REALLY INDIANS’

  • Gopali, Tumkur

  • Rajrendra, Bangalore
Recently, I watched your interview in the local channel. U said, u've subscribed to many of the Hollywood studios from whom, u get technical updates periodically. So far, we have not seen a bench marking technical advancement in any of your movies, except for the fact that, the picture quality of "America America" was really good.
Can we expect/watch some good technical aspects in your future assignments?
Good technical aspects means money, I mean budget. Because of its small market Kannada cinema cannot afford good technical equipments. We are working under a lot of constraint. Still it’s my dream to touch the good technical facilities.

  • Vishala, VA, USA
NagathiYou are one of the few successful kannada movie directors, I have question for you, why is the quality of lyrics & music so bad in kannada movie industry? And I also see there is no use of modern musical instruments.  Its never too late to learn by fusing our music culture and other culture to produce some great music. What your opinion?
You are asking the right question to a wrong person!

  • Vikram
I am curious about the recent trend of importing outside singers in Sandalwood.  I am not questioning this trend, but am very curious to know who decides this and based on what?
As you said it may be just curiosity. To hear Kannada words from a popular National singer! Naturally the deciding factors are producers and directors in the name of poor audience!

  • Drs. D.M.Sagar, The Netherlands
I like your column "NANNA PREETHIYA HUDUGI" in Hi Bangalore as I get Hi Bangalore regularly. I have a special place for you in my heart. I came to know about you only through Hi bangalore, as I hardly watch movies. My question is, whether art should  get down to the level of layman or art itself should lift society to a higher "ideal" state?!. What do you think? Or in other words, Is it always right to show "How things are in society"?, or to project "how they should be"?!.
There is no simple answer for your question. There are so man discussion, debate, difference of opinion about the relationship of Art and the Society. Some of the artists do they believe as `art for art sake’ and `art if pure’. Other philosophy depicts Art is just reflection of society. Finally the question remains how an individual looking at the art. In total the art which comes from the heart it only reaches the other human heart. I believe in Heartistic art and artistic art. And it is very difficult to provide you a simple answer in this place for any highly intellectual and complicated question.
