Siddalingaiah, K. ManjuThe list of subsidy for Kannada films given for the last year has come out and it has created a lot of doubts on the fair judgment arrived by the Quality Tag committee headed by top director Siddalingaiah. While many films not worthwhile have come under the quality list. They are eligible for Rs.10 lakhs subsidy and some well made films have been pushed aside.

The committee of quality tag has taken bribe and lot of appeasement have taken place is commonly heard. While a respected film personality to a group of journalists talked about pre adjustments – three out of 10 lakhs to so and so member’s kitty Chitraloka is shocked to know how it can happen under the aegis of senior director Siddalingaiah.

Siddallingaiah who once tortured the stars with his hot headedness is now a target for many of his own colleagues in the industry says a film producer.

While producer K.Manju digging at the loop holes has questioned the function of quality tag committee with loud voice and even submitting a memorandum to the government of Karnataka. I am ready to bear all the cost if the Government makes to see the films again to which the subsidy has been granted and the films which has been rejected. All this has happened because of Siddalingaiah and Nanjundaegowda. They are the Dhroies of the Kannada film industry. How can a film director who has done a film like `Bangaradha Manusha’ can do this type of cheap gimmicks? Just for a few lacks they are killing the existing producers. Siddalingaiah has stopped directing the film from so many years. He cannot understand the present cinema making and the problem. Then why we have to make the straight subjects even when the remake films are also given subsidy” told K. Manju in angry mood.

  • Quality amount of Rs.10 lakhs is given to remake films and some of the films that have not spent Rs.10 lakhs for its production.

  •
  • Look at Jeevanche Kel, Vasanthi, Thudar, Putti, Yudda Mattu Swatantra, Athithi – all these have made with quality money in mind and nothing else.

  •
  • Look at films like Daddy No.1, Amma Ninna Tholinalli – the producers and directors of those films have announced it as remakes. How can remake films get quality tag? There is definite role of money.

  •
  • K.Manju argues vehemently. I will show all the films given with ulterior motives to the public and the media let them decide he attacks.

  •
  • Rashtra Geethe, Jamindaarru and Gramadevathe – all seriously made films have missed the list while tom dick and Harry making films gets benefits. Why? He can forego a few lakhs to the committee members K.Manju speaks strongly.
Another section of the industry argues there should not be quality tag. The quality of the film is decided at the box office, of course keeping aside the porn films. A film is made for the public and if they reject it should not get the subsidy of the government. Government gives subsidy as a token of appreciation. The real yardstick should be the minimum run of 50 days. The government by constituting this committee of quality has given room for corruption nothing else is also another opinion.

With regret Chitraloka gives list of films K. Manju issued at the press conference that got quality approval – Jeenanche Kel, Vasanthi, Thudar, Putti (not released at all or even if they are released it has not come to the notice of audience and media), Athithi, Kattegalu Saar, Kothigalu Saar, Nilambari, Annayya Thammayya, Dharmadevathi, Enta Lokavayya, Daddy No.1, Majestic (violent film), Amma Ninna Tholinalli, Nanna Preethiya Hudugi, Putti, Yudda Mattu Swatantrya, Shaapa, Munnudi, Neela and Mathadana.
