Girish KasaravalliWhile Dr.Rajkumar is ‘Bangarada Manushya’, Former Prime Minister of India H.D.Deve Gowda is nicknamed, as ‘Mannina Maga’ here is a perfect opportunity to call Girish Kasaravalli as ‘Bangaradha Maga’. The series of ‘Swarna Kamal’ awards for Ghatashradda (1978), Tabarana Kathe (1987), ‘Thai Saheba’ (1997) and now for ‘Dweepa’ (2002) Rajat Kamal for Bannada Vesha, Mane (1989 and 1990) and Krourya,  it is apt to give him this new title for him and he is touch of gold. No doubt about it.

Alas the acclaimed film ‘Dweepa’ at the national level, 33rd International Film Festival, participating in five international festivals and also bagging awards at Karnataka State film awards was shown to the media in Bangalore at Badami House recently.

To describe in one word ‘Dweepa’ is ‘EXCELLENT’. Girishji you have created splendor. The entire Kannada film industry and people of Karnataka must watch this film.

Coming to the meet the press at City Institute on the day of screening the stalwart director Girish Kasaravalli was in solid mood to scold the State awards committee for its ‘Ashadaboothithana’ and ‘Gosumbithana’. The attitude of this year’s award committee - because ‘Dweepa’ won the national award we are giving State award is not acceptable and it is highly condemnable says Girish addressing the crowded media. I am hurt with the statement of veteran Vadiraj that giving state award to national award film is like ‘PHD student writing a PUC examination’. There are many instances of national award films not getting notice at the State level and state award films not getting noticed at the National level Girish clarifies. A statement likes this and then giving awards further questions the ‘Nambike’ - the beliefs envisaged by the committee questions Girish.

Further attacking the recent awards of Karnataka State for films he says it was not given after judging the values and morals of the films. It was just distributed he says.

Actress Soundarya the producer of the film present at the media was also angry about the attitude of the State awards committee. The awards are given for the excellence in cinema and no other attribution is necessary she feels.
