The August month is spectacular for the ‘Jogi’ fever and Vishnuvardhana starring ‘Aptha Mithra’ completing one year. Many records were broken by - Ram-Prem-Shiv-Guru team. Scores of Kannada films bite the dust because of ‘Jogi’. The government announcing setting up of Film Academy in one month was big news. A new box office hero is born in this month. That is Arjun of ‘Mental Manja’.

EVENTS AND DEVELOPMENTS OF THE MONTH

•  Aptha Mithra completed one year screening at Santosh theatre in Bangalore and Ranjith theatre in Mysore. This has made a business of nearly 20 crores of rupees. 
• Akash starring Puneeth Rajkumar completed 100 days, Gowramma going strong after 75 days, Magic Ajji completed 50 days. 
• ‘Haseena’ national award winning film preview was arranged at Santosh theatre in Bangalore. 
• Government honor to Haseena, Shanthi, Beru team at Hotel Ashok. 
• INOX theatre on Magarath road was inaugurated on 3rd of August. ‘News’ Kannada film was screened at this theatre. There are five screening theatres with 1300 capacity. 
• ‘Jogi’ Kannada film was simultaneously released in San Jose, USA. 
• Ramya joins Kishore Namit Kapoor School of acting in Mumbai. 
• Vishnuvardhana Fan Adarsha becomes a lyricist. 
• Film PRO assistant D.G.Vasu married Savitri. 
• ‘Sri’ team returns from Bangkok and Thailand after 45 days shoot. 
• Journalists attended highest number of 12 functions in a span of six days (10th August to 15th August). 
• Akash 100 Days celebrations conducted by proprietor of Siddeshwara theatre in JP Nagar. 
• Kidney disorder for film and television artiste Vijayakrishna.
   

NEWCOMERS IN THE MONTH  Chaluvali Narayan becomes producer, his sons Sai Sagar debut in many departments of ‘Mental Manja’, Arjun debut as hero, Sheetal heroine of the film. Reema Sen and Renuka Menon from ‘News’, Neha from Sirichandana, Ektha Khosla heroine of ‘Thunta’, Producer-Saritha Patra from Abhinandane, Anu and Yashwanth the lead pair, Ramachandra Rao the director, Nagi Reddy is the new producer from ‘Green Signal’, Ashwini Ramprasad and Krishnaprasad turns producers from ‘Jogi’ Kannada film, heroine of the film Jennifer Kothwal is the debutant, Ravi Srivatsa debut as director from ‘Deadly Soma’, Manjunath and Shoba Rajanna turns producers from the same film.
