In
a dramatic development on Wednesday at Karnataka Film
Chamber of Commerce scrutiny of applications filed for
the key post of President for 2006-2007 the casual application
filed by Mr K.N Vasudevamurthy has clicked. The three
applications of Thallam Nanjunda Shetty, K.V. Chandrasekhar
and Thomas D'souza got rejected and thus the casual applicant
Mr Vasudevamurthy got elected to head the Apex body unopposed.
This is the 52nd Annual Election of KFCC and K.N. Vasudevamurthy
is the 34th Persident.
The point now is that why the three applications got rejected?
There is no doubt about the strength and experience of
incoming President Mr Vasudevamurthy but things turned
out very peculiar on the scrutiny day.
As a rule the exhibitor sector heads the President position
for the coming term. At this situation the three prominent
exhibitors Thallam, Chandrasekhar and Thomas have to resign
from the Karnataka Theaters Association positions and
submit a copy of it along with the filing of papers for
this term as a candidate. While Thallam and Thomas filed
a copy of their consent to come down from the post of
Exhibitors association to the KFCC they failed to attach
that copy with their applications for the President post.
K.V. Chandrasekhar who was almost a sure shot for this
time to the President position did not file the applications
properly.
One of the industry personality speaking to Chitraloka
mega portal says a person like K.V. Chandrasekhar who
contested for Graduate constituency how come he make mistake
while filing the papers.
What would happen now? Whether casual applicant Vasudevamurthy
would withdraw his application? In case he withdraw from
the post what should happen? A series of questions have
cropped up now.
In case Vasudevamurthy withdraws his nomination, then,
in the newly elected executive council meeting the vice
president of the exhibitor sector occupies the position
of President of KFCC according to the legal expert. Then
the loser to the vice president to the exhibitor sector
automatically occupies the vice president exhibitor sector
post.
But this is not likely to happen according to Mr Vasudevamurthy
who spoke to Chitraloka mega portal over telephone on
Wednesday night.
Mr Vasudevamurthy and his ancestors are in the exhibition
of cinema for 58 years. Murthy is not interested in withdrawing
his unopposed President post. He wants continue in his
position and use the opportunity that is God sent in an
effective manner. I know the problems of the Kannada film
industry and consult in case of problems and take decision
says Murthy. I was the vice president of last term know
the pros and cons from close quarters say Murthy confidently.
But he says, his decision would be taken only after consulting
with his close friends and seniors in the industry.
Wait and watch in this column more developments of KFCC.
This type of situation has not come up in the history
of KFCC.
The final office bearers of the KFCC would be elected
on July 1.
