Today
the 14th February is remembered across the world as ‘Valentine
Day’. The celebration although alien to us the cross culture
society is celebrating such borrowed culture. On a day
when the lovers meet early in the morning and spend whole
lot of day in a culture that is not our tradition our
young love poet in Kannada cinema K.Kalyan paid a floral
tribute to the living legend – the first love poet of
Kannada literature K.S.Narasimhaswamy couple at their
Banashankari residence at 5 pm.
K.Kalyan
reached the residence of KSN, the famous ‘Mysura Mallige’
poet and performed the traditional Pada Pooje from sacred
water and from milk and then offered Mysore jasmine. He
later handed over Mysore Jasmil garlands and requested
the 89 years old KSN couple to exchange it. The couple
was also decked with a silk shawl later.
Kudos to Kalyan
for bringing back the old memories and making an outstanding
felicitation that has made many generations to look back.
Here
is a quick recap that relates the unforgettable poet of
Kannada literature to this Valentine Day. Sri K.
S. Narasimha Swamy collection of Love songs was released
five decades ago and it made a big leap for Kannada poetry.
This was at a time when the literary giants were writing
only on nature. K. S. Narasimha Swamy, inspired by Robert
Burns, wrote Love Songs could not be replaced by anyone
so far.
Of late the
lovers are losing their time in pubs and discos. But a
‘love poet’ in Kannada cinema lyric Kalyan remembered
the man who made a genesis to love songs KSN.
