It
was yet another pale and pointless Karnataka State awards
presentation celebration on Monday evening at the Dr.Ambedkar
Bhavan in Bangalore. Lack of creativity in conducting
the program and haste spoiled the show of awards evening
for the year 2001-2002.
The Karnataka
Chief Minister S.M.Krishna stood for half an hour because he had
to leave for World Capitol Conference meeting in Switzerland (only
from India have been invited – PM, FM, Karnataka and AP chief ministers)
he presented awards for Pratima Devi, M.S.Rajasekhar and Rajanand.
Before he left for Switzerland the CM Krishna assured of all necessary
help after clear process of the demands. He also went in for a small
flashback.
Presiding
over the awards evening KFCC President made an appeal
to Information Minister to conduct the state awards at
the rural areas from the next year. The Information minister
present at the function to present most of the awards
approved the advice. The KFCC President Ramesh also a
Cong-I politician brought to the notice of the government
the hard working people in the industry and it is high
time the Housing Board provides a roof for them to live.
The
information minister Kagodu Thimmappa admitted that the
awards function has been convened urgently.
The
winner of best actor award Ravichandran for his ‘Yekangi’
Kannada film and actress Soundarya the best producer award
winner for ‘Dweepa’ remembered their late fathers. This
has been a wonderful evening. My father should have been
there at this time. He knew that the audiences have nicknamed
me as ‘Kanasugara’. It is the people who give wings and
allow us to rise high and also to come down Ravichandran
stated to a thunderous applause.
Actress
Soundarya is getting the state award for the second time.
Ravichandran’s father knew the potentiality of him but
whereas my father did not had any knowledge about my tenure
in films the pretty actress observed.
The
three hours award evening was telecast live in Ushe TV
(Udaya TV is adjacent to Dr.Ambedkar Bhavan). According
to the deep throat the government coffers have not filled
from this awards function from Udaya TV management.
The
government sponsor function was utilized as a platform
for MSIL music competition held recently. Kappanna one
of the two compeers gave way for 12 light music songs.
Aparna was at her usual best.
The
austerity has struck the Karnataka government severely
it seems. Prior to the start of the function it had not
made any arrangement for light refreshments. This is the
first time such careless attitude has been found.
