SATURDAY
STATE AWARDS
Kasaravalli Not To Attend
Scoop
report by - CNB
Date - 23rd March
2006
Time - 01.30 PM
The
internationally acclaimed director Girish Kasaravalli
is not taking part in the 2004-2005 state film awards
slated for Saturday evening in the home constituency of
chief minister H.D.Kumaraswamy – Ramanagaram. Girish
Kasaravalli is demanding the strict regulations on remake
films from the government and he insists that a few of
remake films have got awards in the 2004-2005 award declared.
However the Star communications – producers of 'Haseena'
directed by Girish Kasaravalli are receiving the award
given for socially relevant film category.
R.Seshadri who has won the second best film award for
'Beru' joins Girish Kasaravalli in this issue. Unless
the government declares its clear verdict on award for
remake films I am not receiving the award says Seshadri.
Speaking to Chitraloka mega portal the 'Golden Director'
Girish Kasaravalli said unless the government come clear
on the award for remake issue he will not receive the
best socially relevant award given to 'Haseena'. Pointing
to the 2004-2005 Karnataka state film awards he said the
newspapers have reported that a few of the remake films
have got the state award. Despite this the government
is keeping mum is what disturbs me very much he added.
State
award and controversy is nothing new. Why such controversies
erupt is because the seniors in the industry decline to
head the position of award committees. For example Nagathihalli
and C.R.Simha declined to head the award committee. In
such scenario these type of controversies crop up is the
opinion collected by Chitraloka. In the past senior actor
Vishnuvardhana declined to share the award with actor
Ramesh. There are many sundry issues in the past.
One thing is very clear that the government does not interfere
in state awards selection.
Chitraloka
mega portal has also thrown light on the award evening
proceedings.
This state award of 2004-2005 is very special because
a film industry personality heading the mantle of state
H.D.Kumaraswamy as chief minister is distributing the
state awards. In the same place HDK as producer released
the audio of his blockbuster Kannada cinema 'Chandra Chakori'
from the hands of his father former Prime Minister H.D.Deve
Gowda. Murali was the hero of that film. Now for the same
Murali he is giving state award for best actor category.
With Girish Kasaravalli announcement that he is not receiving
the award on the remake issue the chief minister Kumaraswamy
might announce some policy decisions to appease the swamake
film producers.
Ramanagara the city of rocks is very prominent place even
in the Hindi film industry. It is at this place the film
'Sholay' was shot partly.
