CHANGE
IN SHOW TIMINGS
Revert
Says Producers
Report
by - CNB
Date -05th April 2003
The
theatres show timings coming back to old format of 11.30,
2.30, 6.30 and 9.30 from April 4, 2003 resulted in poor
response for the producers of all Kannada films at present.
The sudden change in timings has not reached the cine
goers and thus the theatre collection has dropped considerably.
So
a protest was staged on Saturday by four prominent films
producers – S.V.Rajendra Singh Babu of ‘Kathegalu saar
Kathegalu’, N.Kumar of ‘Yardo Duddu Yellammana Jathre’,
Dr.Lakshmipathi Babu of ‘Halo’ and representatives of
‘Raja Narasimha’ – affected severely because of new show
timing have asked the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce
to revert back the old system of 10.30, 1.30,4.30 and
7.30 pm.
In
Uma theatre in Chamrajpet for a Kannada film the audience
thronged in 800 numbers at 1 pm. They were told the show
timing is 2.30 pm. They were upset and suddenly moved
out of the place. In Nanda theatre for 9.30 pm show there
were only three persons. Lack of publicity in theatre
timing has been the sole reason the currently running
producers say.
Apparently
the sudden protest made by some producers has not come
to the notice of Producers Association President Basanthkumar
Patil.
However,
the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President S. Ramesh
speaking to Chitraloka disclosed that an emergency meeting
has been called on Monday to discuss this disturbance
to producers.
