Here is an example of a Kannada film ‘Raja Narasimha’ starring Vishnuvardhan picking the tune from yesteryears Tamil film ‘Ananda Jyothi’ and Kannada film ‘Premakku Permittu’. The lyric writer was asked to come to Hyderabad to hear the Tamil song from the film ‘Ananda Jyothi’ written by Kanna Dasan that was scored by M.S.Vishwanathan and shot on late M.G.Ramachandran and Devaki. The beginning of song line is Nenake Therinda Maname Unaku Marakuu Theriyadha…….., the same song tune is found in Kannada film ‘Premakku Permitte’ starring Kalyan Kumar and Kalpana. R.N.Jayagopal is the lyricist. P.Susheela is the singer. It starts like Usire odala thorayuveya……..

That’s past. Coming to future our young lyricist K.Kalyan has been forced to write fresh lines for the film ‘Raja Narasimha’ keeping the yesteryear songs. The producers Medikonda Muralikrishna and Vizak Raju were so busy that they shot the song with Vishnuvardhan and Raashi only with the original tune sans the lyrics. Later the lyric was added.

Public memory is not short. Why become cheap by copying is our question.
