KCN Banner Tech Touch To 'Harischandra'

The prestigious empire in Kannada filmdom KCN banner headed by K.C.N.Gowda the octogenarian torch bearer of Kannada cinema is giving today's technical touch to 'Satya Harischandra' starring Dr.Rajkumar, Pandari Bai, Udayakumar, Narasimha Raju and others. It is releasing in two months from now.

When the film 'Satya Harischandra' was made in 1965 by Vijaya productions banner it invested just Rs.4.5 lakhs on the project. Now KCN banner is investing Rs.50 lakhs for the state of the art recording of sound. Obviously the sound film of yesteryears has to get the excellent sound facility to reach the younger generation!

Bringing out the classic of yesteryears 'Satya Harischandra' and thus paying rich tribute to Dr.Rajkumar is the ambition of KCN Gowda which he expressed to his son K.C.N.Mohan recently.

Within a very short period KCN Mohan worked out the modalities of bringing it to today's technology. Now with the latest technical support imported from United States of America 'Satya Harischandra' is coming to thrill everyone of all age group.

The re-recording work is on for 'Satya Harischandra'. Popular music director of Kannada films Rajesh Ramanathan has cancelled two of his assignments and working day and night on this project.

The color touch to this black and white 'Satya Harischandra' is not yet decided. It requires nearly Rs.2 crores to make it a color film. The intention of KCN Banner is to introduce those days of films made in black and white with soothing sound says Mohan the producer of the film Julie ready for release.

The VCD right of this rehashed 'Satya Harishchandra' of 1965 is also in the hands of KCN banner. It has plans to release the VCD of the film after the film is released in Karnataka.

The KCN banner foray in to social, mythological, historical and entertaining films came very frequently. KCN banner produced more than 50 quality films like Babruvahana, Bangarada Panjara, Sanadhi Appanna, Jayasimha, Huli Havina Mevu, Kasturi Nivasa, Bhakta Siriyala, Ranga Nayaki, Antima Teerpu, Dhari Thappida Maga, Namma Samsara, Nammura Raja – the top grosser in the box office.

We agree with the point that 'Yours Truthfully' was coined keeping in mind 'Satya Harischandra'. What do you say?

For your information – Film on 'Satya Harischandra' (this was the 12th film) was first made in 1943 by Saraswathi Stores, SSS Nataka Mandali Productions and Pragathi Pictures. Veteran R.Nagendra Rao directed this film. Subbaiyanaidu (father of Lokesh), R. agendra Rao, Lakshmi Bai and G.V.Krishnamurthy Rao played key roles. In 1943 only four films were produced and 'Satya Harischandra' was received well.

The super hit was Dr.Rajkumar starring film (169th film in Kannada filmdom) made by Vijaya Productions in 1965. That was directed by H.Krishnamurthy. Pandari Bai, Vanishri, Udayakumar, Narasimharaju and M.P.Shanker also played important roles. The song of this film 'Kuladalli Melyavudho Huchchappa……, is popular even to this day.
