Take
a look at Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce vicinities.
You will be surprised to see a number of posters of S.Ramesh
the candidate for prime post of KFCC. The feeling of Assembly
or Parliament by election strikes your mind. That is the
power of heavyweight politician who is throwing parties
appeasing people concerned to Film Chamber of Commerce
to conquer the post of President of KFCC. One thing is
definite. Ramesh is spending money like water. Perhaps
in the previous years this was not found. He is printing
colorful posters and pamphlets to clinch the position.
The other
day he was giving election promises to the Kannada film
industry. The unity of all three sectors, building the
KFCC at its original place, uniform subsidy for all Kannada
films of Rs.5 lakhs and bringing discipline are some of
the promises of Ramesh. Asked whether he would be the
candidate of Congress-I he declined to answer the question.
I was active member of 21 trade unions when I was President
of KFCC in 1992. I never mixed politics with film chamber
says Ramesh.
Now take a
look at this simple and effective lady – Jayamala. She
has victory in her name itself. She has the support of
Smt.Parvathamma Rajkumar and producers association has
extended its full support. The distributors and exhibitors
are keeping mum and what share of votes she will grab
from these two sectors is also a vital element. The distributors
are up to Tamil film releases demand and exhibitors are
not interested in reducing the rent and giving a share
of Service tax to producers. On these two grounds only
the vote bank for Jayamala stands firmly. I am not a politician
to give promises. I believe strongly in doing work and
giving results is what Jayamala says.
Let anyone
come. He or She should perform within 3 months. Otherwise
they have to go like how Tallam Nanjundashetty walked
out says S.V.Rajendra Singh Babu, the President of Kannada
Film Directors Association. A good thought to keep in
check the elected bodies.
However, the
election to key posts would take place on Saturday at
10.35 am. The venue is Gururaja Kalyana Mantapa. This
time there is no proxy voting. The results are expected
to be out by evening.

column for results and more information on election.
