Convicted In A Murder Case

The Kannada film actor Harish Rai, a popular villain on screen has at last turned out to be a villain in real life too. For the murder Rai committed on Nov. 13th 1992 night of Jayarama Rao, a high school teacher at Christian school in Udupi has been sentenced life imprisonment by the Udupi District and Sessions Court on Friday.

Rai before committing this murder had an old rivalry with Jayarama Rao who was also running Sandya finance company in his wife name at Kannirapadi. To settle the old scores Rai had attacked the deceased with three others on that night. Badly hit Jayarama Rao was admitted to KMC hospital. He was alive till Nov 26th. Before his death Jayarama rao gave a declaration to the police. After the case was registered the Udupi district public prosecutor Chandrashekara Hiramet produced 10 witnesses to the court. The court upheld the argument of the public prosecutor and district judge gave the final order of life imprisonment for Harish Rai and Rs. 3,000/- fine. Harish Rai has acted in number of Kannada films ever since he got noticed in `Om’ Kannada film in early 90’s.
