GUbbi Veeranna And Lokesh Remembered

The Bangalore City Corporation has passed orders to rename the roads of Subedar Chatram road in the name of stalwart theatre cum film personality of yesteryears late Gubbi Veeranna and Kathriguppa Main Road to Ring Road after late actor Lokesh.

Very recently a stamp in the name of late Gubbi Veeranna has been approved and now the prominent road in the busy Majestic area Subedar Chatram Road will be in his name. In and around this area a theatre is also situated in the name of Gubbi Veeranna the doyen of Kannada film industry. The proposal of changing the Subedar Chatram Road in the name of veteran Gubbi Veeranna is a decade old proposal. 

In a communication the Bangalore City Mayor R. Narayanaswamy feels sorry for the inordinate delay in naming the Subedar Chatram Road in the name of late Gubbi Veeranna. He has asked the officials to immediately make arrangement for the naming ceremony in the presence of Kannada filmdom.

In another letter dated 6th June the Bangalore City Mayor has reacted to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce request and advised the officials to make arrangements to name the Kathriguppe circle to Ring Road as Lokesh Rasthe.
