PARALLEL CHAMBER?
Strong Urge By Industry
Report by CNB                Photos - K.M. VEERESH                             Date - 29th March  2003

S. RameshThe Kannada Film producers Association is completely upset over the developments in the last two days. The service charge of extra one rupee per ticket levied by the government is at the behest of Film Chamber President S.Ramesh and this particular point without the knowledge has come as a boulder shock.

The protest made with regard to levy of extra one rupee caused ripples in the industry and a strong protest was staged. Later the protesting producers went to information minister Kagodu Thimmappa and they had no chance to speak and put their problems. Even when the film industry members met the Chief Minister yesterday the producers association was a mute spectator. The CM had given enough time. Even the CM was bit confused and the ultimate result is no result.

What actually turned out from all these development is the producers association silently working on new avenues to meet their demands. To discuss various problems emerging with extra levy of service charge, show tax, INR etc the producers association is holding an emergency meeting on 4th April at 3 pm. It has been decided by a section of producers that they should not enter the office of Film Chamber when it is not working on their woes.

After the emergency meeting the producers association is meeting the information minister and presenting their issues that needs immediate attention.
