A new actor with lots of promises has emerged on Kannada
screen. That is DEEPAK, he looks elegant, and mannerisms
are quite convincing, good in romance and fine in action
scenes. When it comes to delivery of dialogues he reminds
us of our unforgettable Shanker Nag. This youth is loaded
with energy. He is here to stay.
Director Vasu has shown his grit and determination. This
is his best film. He has got good support from dialogue
writer Shivasamaya and his assistants.
Launching Deepak from Ulla's productions Ba Ma Girish,
Rekha Diwakar and Ba Ma Harish have made the right choice.
Deepak is like 'butter' to this production house. They
need not run for 'Ghee' anywhere.
'Sishya' is Vaasa (Deepak). He works for his mentor 'Guru'
Chandrappa (Rangayana Raghu) day and night and develops
the Samrajya of his Guru. Not only deals but also he sketches
master plans. The rival gang is losing ground slowly with
the Chakravyuha of Vaasa. Vaasa is a do gooder in his
activities but never leaves the enemies. He has a 'long'
as his weapon. When it comes to loyalty Vaasa is ready
to give his life to his mentor. It is because his mentor
has picked him from the streets when he was child and
nourished him with good food, shelter and clothes.
The twist and turn balloons up when the college student
Vasundhara (Chytra) falls in love with Vaasa. Vaasa is
not ready to reciprocate at any cost. Vasundhara is the
daughter of Vaasa's mentor and he makes the right decision
in keeping her away. When Vasundhara a marriage is fixed
to lawyer Jaggi's son the things are not in right direction.
Vaasa fails to complete a deal on the humanitarian grounds.
Infuriated with this Guru Chandrappa changes his attitude
on his Sishya. Chandrappa joins the hands of opponent
party and fixes a muhuruth for his own Sishya. After reels
we find that Chandrappa locked in problems when his opponent
gang leader is finished by Vaasa in retaliation. Chandrappa
is in a dilemma. Another skeleton don (elder brother of
don put down by Vaasa) arrives on the scene and further
the equations change. Around the marriage date of his
mentor's daughter marriage the bridegroom is kidnapped.
This kidnap also falls on the head of Vaasa.
You have to watch the later on turns and twists in the
second half that is loaded with lot of startling changes.
Whether Vaasa reciprocates his love to Vasundhara? How
his mentor transform? What happens to another don? Whether
it is a usual end or tragic end or something different.
You buy a ticket and watch this film.
Deepak is dexterous in stunts and dance. Emotion is not
his quota in this film. He will flourish in his career.
There is no doubt about it. Chytra Hallikere has atlast
got a good role and nice costumes. Rangayana Raghu and
Jai Jagdeesh steal the show in the supporting roles.
A song on goddess Annamma is for the seasons, two other
songs are well tuned by Nagendra Prasad. Photography further
enhances the quality of the film.
New boy Deepak is shining on silver screen. That is enough
for you to watch this film..
