Director Vasudev rao started his career as a film journalist and later made his foray into films. He has always tried to be different in directing tele serials or in his films. Vasu does not want to play safe hands by working in beaten track subjects. Now, he has made a new film "Operation Ankusha' which is perhaps the first film to be shot at one angle of 180 degree unlike other films which are usually shot at 360 degrees. In that way Vasudeva Rao has created history of sorts. The entire film has been shot at one location, in front of a bungalow in Madikeri. The entire story has been narrated in the same manner and it is only the characters who move out in front of camera to talk and emote. Camera does not shift anywhere and is static. The characters move left, right, in and out of the bungalow according to the situation. They never go out of the camera and the camera also doesn't turn around. In this way, the director has broken tradition and has also saved a lot of money.

The plot revolves around a joint family which is a model to society in many ways. Srikantaiah (Ashok Rao), a business man settled in London is the owner of the house. He comes to his native place with his wife and a daughter with the intention of settling in India.

One fine day a shocking incident takes place in their house. Operation Ankusha is all about discovering the people behind the mysterious incident. Though this mysterious story has been briefed more in the form of dialogues of artists, the focus on experiment has curtailed the visual effects. And often the audience may have a feeling that the film
needed a little more visual support for the impact. But Vasudev Rao has struck to his plan and shot the film. The audience would get a feel of suspense and thrill many a times. There are no songs in the film. Even the comedy portions are minimal.

Vasu has done something that is different. He has to be encouraged.
