Chandrashekhar has strong convictions about the rapid
globalization, economic reforms and the continued looting
of our resources by the politician and corporate nexus.
He has taken a strong view as an individual and has participated
in many struggles. Now, he has used the main stream media
of cinema to convey his beliefs rather in a strong manner.
But his effort is top class and it will be a visual and
literary treat to the film buffs. There is top class performances
from Veteran artists like Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Suhasini
Manirathnam, Sudeep, Doddanna, Mandya Ramesh and Rangayana
Raghu which will be much appreciated by the audience.
And the technical work in the film is outstanding.
Chandrashekhar weaves a story with lot of commercial ingredients
in it, but entire narration is logical and authentic. The film revolves
around a floriculturist farmer Hoovaiah and his small family on
one plot and how this farmer taken on the entire political and corporate
establishment to save his village and his resources. There is not
a single moment in the film where the film viewer loses interest
in the proceedings. The film maintains a fast pace in narration
and has some well choreographed song sequences. The entry of Sudeep
electrifies the audience and till the end of the film the tempo
his presence is enlivening. And Nagathihalli’s dialogues are
the main attractive feature of this film, particularly the sequence
where Dr. Vishnu and Sudeep have a verbal confrontation.
Dr. Vishnuvardhan delivers one of the most powerful performances
in his career as Hoovaiah. Suhasini Manirathnam proves that she
is one of the finest actors in the Indian screen by her lively and
authentic performance. Sudeep’s brief appearance is to be
highly appreciated. All the other character artists have done well.
Mano Murthy’s music is top class. Songs like Banna Banna,
Namma Mane aramane and Maaya Maaya are well choreographed. Krishna
Kumar’s camera work is simply superb.
Nagathihalli can be really proud of making such a top class film
which is a welcome addition to the list of fantastic films
in the Kannada film industry.
