Dr.
Vishnuvardhan has proved his capabilities as a superb
actor. Veteran actor Anant Nag is a champion of refined
acting. These two actors are seen rarely on screen and
whenever they combine to present a film, it is sure to
rock. Ee Bhandana has these two great actors of Kannada
screen who are used perfectly by first time director Vijayalakshmi
Singh. Ee Bhandana is simply the best product that has
come out from Jai Jagadish’s production unit.
Ee Bhandana
has a classy touch and it is highly emotional which is certain to
moist your eyes. The family story is inspired by a Hollywood hit
is a perfectly matched blend of all good elements. While Mano Murthy’s
music rocks, it is cameraman Ajay Vincent’s fantastic cinematography
which brightens the visuals.
Many actresses
like Jayanthi, Arathi have ventured into film direction earlier,
but their initial attempts did not create a wave of excitement needed
to promote their career in this creative segment. But with Vijayalakshmi
Singh it may be a different story. She has mounted her film in a
big span and has taken top artists like Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Anat
Nag, Tara, Darshan, Jayaprada, Jennifer and Doddanna to narrate
a story which is touching and warming. For people who have been
seeing films from more than fifty years, it would necessarily remind
you of B.R. Panthulu’s classic film “School Master’
which had similar story. But “Ee Bhandana’ is a special
film as it has top technical content and the contemporary touch
to it.
School Master
released in late fifties was based on a Hollywood hit on which even
a Marathi film was based. School Master was remade in Malayalam
later. The story is about a old couple who are very much attached
to each other being forced to stay with their children separately.
The physical separation with each other and the humiliation they
face later in the house of their children leads to tragic situations.
Finally the old couple get united thanks to a orphan who was brought
up lovingly by the couple. Ms. Vijayalakshmi Singh has fully exploited
the talents of her team and provides a dish which is fully tasty
and mouthwatering. The film comes on track from the first scene
which surprisingly is a song sequence and continues till the end
which has a most touching climax seen in Kannada films in recent
times.
The big star
cast film has some wonderful performances from Dr. Vishnuvardhan,
Jayaprada, Doddanna and Darshan. Dr. Vishnu shows gamut
of emotions that flow rapidly across with apt expressions.
His mesmerizing performance adds up to the brightness
of the film. Another convincing aspect of the film is
the performance of Anant Nag who has spoken in the North
Karnataka accent in the film. His dubbing work is also
top class. . Jacaranda’s smile and dance movements
are certain to attract even young hearts, but her performance
in this film can be described as the best in her long
career. Darshan has given a spirited performance in the
meaty role and in the climax sequence he is really touching.
Tara is an apt choice for the role. Jennifer is a live
wire in the Banna Banna dance which is one of the best
choreographed films.
Technically also the film is brilliant with Mano Murthy giving some
humming tunes like Idhe Bhoomi Idhe Bhaanu, Chanda Ninna Chandramukhi
and Banna Banna. His background score elevates the impact. Ajay
Vincent provides a rich look to the film and the artists of the
film are presented in a lovely fashion.
