If
at all you have to describe Indrajit Lankesh directed
“Aishwarya’ in one word, your immediate reaction
could well be “Simply brilliant’ or “visually
fantastic’.
That description
will sum up the qualitative aspects of the film. In this film with
strong visuals and captivating musical compositions, it is Real
Star Upendra who impresses with his soft and spectacular performance
in a perfect ten style. Ravishing Deepika floors you with her looks.
By a fantastic packaging of all commercial elements, director Indrajith
Lankesh comes out with a winner.
Producers N.
Kumar and Dr. Ramanjaneyulu have to be complimented for making a
big budget film with stylish visuals and peppy songs in these times
when the Kannada film industry is facing a big crisis of confidence.
Aishwarya is
presented with very appealing visuals and catchy songs. You will
see around well dressed, beautiful fun loving people in palatial
surroundings, colourful backgrounds. An impressive presentation
of the sequences takes you to the world of rich and famous. This
is the strongest point which takes the film to the winning post.
And the difference in presentation is palpable what with Upendra
is presented in a different hair style (his earlier hair style had
itself become a trade mark) .with extremely good costumes, while
Deepika will floor you with her looks, dress sense and screen presence.
Three songs shot on Deepika (The title song, Manmatha and Hudugi
Hudugi) are visually spectacular and the viewers will certainly
feel the difference.
Since the story
itself is very thin, there is lesser number of elements in the first
half which makes the proceedings interesting. Therefore the take
off of the film is only in the second half and it is here that Indrajit
Lankesh has packed with some strong points like comedy featuring
Sadhu Kokila, Komal and a bit of emotional touch. All the three
well choreographed songs featuring Upendra and Deepika are in the
second half.
You may well
argue that Lankesh had taken a risk by changing the hair style of
Upendra as his earlier hair style had itself become a trade mark.
But Indrajit has taken a worthy risk as Upendra really looks fantastic
with extremely good costumes. His performance is also very good.
Krishna Kumar’s
lighting patterns and shot compositions are quite catching
and Rajesh Ramanath has really worked hard in creating
some good tunes for the film. Vinod Manohar’s sharp
editing has also helped the film.
“Aishwarya’ is a brilliant commercial film.
