is this Sharadha? We will quickly clear your doubt.
She is the better half of the famous lyricist of Kannada
cinema Chi.Udayashanker.
After the
demise of pivotal lyricist Chi.Udayashanker the Sharadha
we are talking about has not smiled since 1993. But
a year and half ago she smiled. The occasion was the
marriage of daughter Shyamala. Married to Anesthesia
expert Narayanaswamy, Shyamala is leading a happy life
and it is a sigh of big relief for Smt.Chi.Udayashanker.
Recently she had been to Uttica in USA stayed there
for six months.
When Chitraloka
came to know about the stay of Smt.Sharadha Udayashankar
in Bangalore through veteran journalist P.G.Srinivasamurthy
we left to the Malleswaram residence of Gurudutt son
of Smt.Sharadha Udayashanker for a brief chat.

of a brief chat:
ON
HER PRESENT LIFE
I
am living in the memory of my husband at Chennai. For
this July it is 11 years without my husband. I am reading
‘Rishipeetam’ a Telugu book in my free time. I stayed
in US for six months where my daughter is residing.
It was a good experience. I had fear to go to that place.
Till New York of my journey I found a Tamil speaking
friend. Right now I am staying at T Nagar in Chennai.
HOW
WAS US STAY
After I went
there I really found it homely. To my astonishment I
noticed my husband’s fans. It was a good change for
me.
ON
HER DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW
It
is a perfect match for my daughter. My son in law is
an anesthesia expert. He is also interested in music.
My daughter used to play the songs of my husband in
her house for me. I always love the devotional songs
written by my husband. My daughter used to say that
the Kannada lyrics of her papa are so rich and she could
even translate it into Tamil. She is not happy with
current generation of lyrics. To some extent she has
that writing ability.
WHAT
ABOUT HER SON GURUDUTT
Oh I liked
his acting in ‘Godhuli’ and ‘Thulasi’ television serials.
In the Godhuli TV serial he looked similar to my father
in law. His role of ‘Shishupala’ in Sri Krishnaleele
television serial was too good. I would like to see
him in a wonderful role. Besides this I also want to
see him get married.
WHICH
FILM SONG OF HER HUSBAND SHE LIKES MOST
It is Endendu
Ninnanu Marethu…. Of ‘Eradu Kanasu’. It is inevitable
for me now to life in dreams. When I hear the songs
written by my husband I collect tears. We have about
1900 songs collection of my husband. In one of
the songs he had included my name and daughter name.
The song he had written when we lost our son Ravishanker
when I hear makes me very emotional. Although I am Telugu
speaking I can now read Kannada very well.
ON
UNFINISHED WORKS OF CHI.UDAYASHANKER
There are
65 songs written by my husband Chi Udayashanker on goddess
Banashankari. Dr.Rajkumar evinced interest in singing
those songs. Not only that there are many bounced cheques.
We have not forced anyone to clear it. All of them are
still in tact.
THE
RIGHT RESPECT HAS COME TO CHI.UDAYASHANKER FROM INDUSTRY
No. He deserved good
respect. For five time state award winner a site has not been
given. I feel in the memory of my husband something could be done
even now. His brother Datturaj is planning on life sketch of Chi.Udayashanker.
