The mega television serial in Kannada ‘Uttarayana’ based on top writer Vyasaraya Ballal’s novel is a perfectly symbolic to the career of top artiste Roja. 130 films in 13 years Roja is back after two years hibernation in a Kannada television serial for ‘Yantra Media’ productions ‘Uttarayana’. Shymasunder the intelligent MD of the Yantra Media is producing his 38th mega television serial.

Roja the beautiful looking married two years ago to her long time lover Selvamani addressed the media on her accepting the protagonist role in ‘Uttarayana’ at Press Club of Bangalore. 

From ‘Chemburathi’(Hibiscus) to ‘Uttarayana’ the talented actress Roja has been widely accepted throughout South India. She has acted as heroine opposite Kannada stars like Ravichandran and Vishnuvardhana. Now she is playing the mother role to Puneeth Rajkumar in an untitled Kannada film for producer Rockline Venkatesh.

I have done all variety of roles. After marriage I thought enough of glamour roles. The reason for accepting ‘Uttarayana’ is that it suits me very well and so far I have not done such a role in my 13 years of film career. The producers of Yantra Media have assured that the television would be made very well and that’s why I am here. I have acted in Tamil Television serial. In Kannada I am working for eight to 10 days informed Roja.

Answering a question Roja replied the life span of today’s heroines is very less compared to yesteryears. Living in Chennai with her husband Selvamani Roja is looking for performance oriented roles in future. Her husband is heading the new television channel coming up ‘Tamil Tere’ in Chennai.
