She was born in Bahrain, but she studied in Bangalore's prestigious Mount Carmel College. And then now she has been shuttling in all the major towns of all the South Indian states working in films of all the four Southern languages. Mamta Mohandas who was introduced in Malayalam films is now busy as an actress and a play back singer. Recently Mamta was the star attraction in the audio and CD album release function of the Chiranjeevi starrer Shankardada Zindabad in Hyderabad where she has sung a popular song. Music director Devi sreeprasad who rendered music direction for SDZ had infact introduced Mamta as a singer in the film Rakhi in which Mamta had sung the title song.

Now Mamta Mohandas is in Bangalore to act in a Kannada film. She is the leading lady of Gooli in which she is teamed up with young star Sudeep. The shooting of the film is being shot in the Abbaiah Naidu studios in Bangalore from July 2. Mamta took a day's break to be part of the Shankar Dada Zindabad audio function.

P.N. Sathya is the director of Gooli produced by Ramu Enterprises who have made films like Rakshasa, AK 47, Simhada Mari and Lockup Death. Mamta said that she is happy to have signed a Kannada film and the major portions of the shooting of this film are being held in Bangalore which is her favourite place. Mamta had studied in the Mount Carmel College before she embarked
Mamta has already acted in many Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. She had acted in Tamil film Sivappadikaram with Vishaal and has recently signed a new film with Arjun. Mamta was introduced in Malayalam film Mayookam and then she did many films that included the controversial film Lanka in which the actress was seen in skimpy cloths in a rainy sequence.

I agree that I became controversial after I acted in Lanka which was later dubbed into Telugu as Pokiri Pilla. A section of the Malayalam press wrote that I had wore skimpy costumes in the film and appeared hot in a rainy song sequence. But the role that I did was that of a dashing and dynamic woman which needed me to wear such costumes It was not a sexy role, but still I was being targeted. When Telugu film industry's hotshot director Rajamouli saw the Telugu dubbed version of this film, he was little surprised to know that my role had created a lot of ripples in the Malayalam film industry' the glamorous belle told Chitraloka.

Mamta expressed happiness that she has been launched in a big way in the Kannada film industry in a big banner and with a big star like Sudeep. `I don’t want to discuss anything about my role other than telling that I play a rich girl in this film. And the film has an intense love story. We are shooting two songs of this film in Switzerland' said Mamta Mohandas.

Mamta is thrilled when she recounts the exciting experience she had during the album release of the film Shankardada Zindabad. `When Chiru sir called me on stage and appreciated my song It was like that I was in seventh heaven. The song has now become a big hit now' says Mamta who has already been selected for singing by many top Telugu film producers.

`I would like to sing in films in which I have acted or several irrestible offers like Chiru Sir's films' says Mamta whose sole aim is to be called as a very good actress.
