I like some of the directors. Sridhar is one among them. There is no need of dance directors for his films. According to the situation of song he does the choreography. For Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Sethumadhavan there is no need of dance directors. 
 

Director S.V.Rajendran is relative of director Sridhar. He directed 'Trimurthi'. The ideology and behavior of director is good then the film shapes up well. For that 'Trimurthy' is an example. Some of them have said that director is not good. He has weakness they murmured. Who does not have weakness? In 'Kavirathna Kalidasa' Rajkumar avaru addressing the King says 'Getting angry is your weakness King'. Each one will be having one weakness. We should not attach prominence to such weakness. What we want is good cinema. 
 
As a matter of fact I could not concentrate on the story of 'Trimurthy'. Even after finishing of the film I did not know the subject. I did not go to the shooting spot. Looking after the baby I was in the hotel room. That is also because the director was from outside. When outside directors used to do films I was not sitting for the discussions. 
 
UDAYASHANKER IS GREAT
Still from TrimurthyM.V.Rajamma had done the mother's role. There were good songs in 'Trimurthy'. Moogana Kadidharenu…., is very good. Jayamala is the heroine. Cinema was successful. It was screened for 100 days in Majestic theatre. 100 Days celebration was not done. 
 
The contribution of Chi.Udayashanker was good for 'Trimurthy'. Tell me who is there today to write like that. The dialogues were on the tongues of several people then. It was remembered. 
 
Although 'Trimurthy' is the first film for our banner we did not distribute it. Gadag Raju took the distribution. I asked for Rs.3 lakhs to release this film. He said no. I am not ready to do the business I said. Finally he settled to my demand. For other films he used to pay Rs.70000 then. One print was given compulsorily.
 
NO TO SOMASEKHAR
Dr. Rajkumar, SomashekarI should remember Lakshman Rao. When we took up 'Shanker Guru' he said Somasekhar should not be the director. If that is the case I would not take the film for distribution he said. I was very strong for Somasekhar. I said Rao that I am not interested in his distribution. But he came back and took the rights by paying Rs.8 lakhs. Others came running for more money. But I did not agree.
 
Still from Shankar Guru'Shanker Guru' was a big success. Rajkumar did three roles. The expenditure was not too big. In those days shooting expenses was not that big. 100 in the unit were living together for 28 to 30 days. We used to prepare food on our own. The grinder was also carried among the properties. 
 
The people of today should understand all these things. Today's people do not know how the industry works. Each one wants a separate room. In case the heroine celebrates her birthday on the sets the ice cream bill of it she eats has to be paid by the producer. 
 
When Rajkumar was shooting in Mysore he was staying in Sujatha hotel. In Bangalore at High Lands his stay was permanent. Despite of big hotel he never used to stay there. He always used to stay with the unit members – director, cameraman, associates were all together. In the evening time they used to discuss what should be done tomorrow. For the shooting spot every one would reach together. The work was very smooth. Nowadays the unit of the film is scattered. Bringing them together is difficult. 
 
COSTUME IMPORTANT THAN STORY
Dr. Rajkumar, UdayashankarToday's directors give less importance to story. They give more prominence to dress, dance, fighter etc. If one producer brings in 50 dancers another director bring in 100 dancers! They compete even in action director selection. 
 
For all Rajkumar films there was only one dance director – Udupi Jayaram and one fight master – Y.Shivaiah. Our children say all Appaji films action scenes are very good. See the advantage here. If one permanent person is there he knows about the artiste very well. 
 
There was no dupe for Rajkumar. He was performing on his own. In some cases where dupe was required he was not taken together. The hero portion was completed first. Then the dupe used to turn up to the spot. They both used to be mixed. The result was fine. 
 
Nowadays how the cinema is made is known to all. What is supposed to be done inside has come out open today. When an action scene comes the lethargic look is given. They would have seen the hero and dupe coming from two sides. 
 
In romantic scenes no one was allowed. Now it is not so. They quarrel and go inside to see the romance of artistes. That eventually leads to stress on artistes. They take lot pains by the time film is complete. 
 
I came to know about how big is Hubli market from 'Girikanye' film. I opened up an office in Hubli. Hubli people are the real lovers of Art. 
 
UNFORGETTABLE – No one knows with whom the potentiality is tucked. We should look at the good things not bad ones. When you go on search for mistakes it is loss for us. We lose the opportunity to see the good ones.
