Babu Urges Government

Top director of Kannada cinema S.V.Rajendra Singh Babu has urged the information minister Mr Shivaram for Rs.20 lakhs subsidy to novel based Kannada films. From 1974 to 1987 only novel based film kept the Kannada filmdom in highest esteem. Novel based films only gave good standing for the Kannada heroes. It is only the novels that brought Swarna Kamal for Kannada filmdom. I along with Mr Nanjunde Gowda explained the situation and opposed the subsidy for remake films. There are number of novels in Kannada that can be adapted on screen.

I have read the novel of Editor of Agni in his tabloid newspaper. Mr Sridhar has beautifully written an underworld subject. The emotional elements are so good in Agni Sridhar's novel. I have asked for the rights from him to make a Kannada film. There is another one of Nemichandra that is far better than the 'Hiroshima Murmur' says Babu. Today four children films are in the international level and all of them based on novels. 

I do not agree that there are no enough novels in Kannada to make films. Babu expressed his strong opinion.
