This year's Vara Mahalakshmi day will see the release of two big films Maathaad Maathaad Mallige and Gandana Mane featuring two big stars Dr. Vishnuvardhan and Shivaraj Kumar. Though for the last three years only one Kannada film has been released on the auspicious date, this time there has been a clash of two hugely awaited films. The audios of both these films Maathaad Maathaad Mallige directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar and Gandana Mane directed by S.Mahendar have already been released in the audio market.

Maathaad Maathaad Mallige has already become a highly discussed film in the Kannada film industry for the novel subject and presentation of its director. This is the first time that a serious issue of globalisation and reforms has been taken for a full length commercial Kannada film. Suhasini Manirathnam is paired with Dr. Vishnu in the film. Gandana Mane is a sentimental fare with glamorous Gauri Munjal being teamed up with Shivaraj Kumar.
