Now
it is official. Kannada film industry's "Ajatha Shatru'
Devaraju, who has also shown his talents in many Telugu
and Tamil films will be playing the role of Ravana in
"Prachanda Ravana' to be produced by a group of techies
who want to make this film using all state of the art
technical features.
"Prachanda
Ravana' is based on a play written by Late Kanagal Prabhakara Shashtry.
Actor Vajramuni immortalized the role of mythological character Ravana
in this drama when it was played in different parts of the state.
Many theatre personalities have excelled in Ravana's role, but theatre
enthusiasts still remember the old horse Vajramuni for his amazing
portrayal in the role of Ravana.
The
huge success of "Prachanda Ravana' on stage capitulated
Vajramuni into a villain the film industry. Vajramni was
introduced by Kanagal Puttanna, brother of Shashtri in
the film "Saavira Mettilu' and Vajramni never looked
back thereafter and he strengthened his position as a
villain after acting in films like "Mallammana Pavada'
and 'Sampaththige Savaal'. Vajramuni then became one of
the most popular villains the Kannada film industry had
ever seen.
"Prachanda
Ravana' as a film will not be just a replica of the drama,
but it will have all the punch dialogues of the drama.
On the celluloid the length will be reduced to narrative
portions of around 150 minutes. The producers will be
announcing about Devaraj's selection on a press conference
organised by them on Monday and they would also reveal
the preferences of the people who had sent SMS messages
through 8888.
