S.R.Govindoo,
Vice President of the KFCC, has attacked a coterie of
producers for sidelining the real issues and formenting
a crisis for their selfish motives.
He said this coterie includes Sandesh Nagaraj, President
of the Kannada film producers association, K.C.N.Kumar,
Vice President of the association, K. Manju, a veteran
producer and Munirathna who makes very few films.
Govindoo
said Munirathna often doubles up as a producer though
his main interest is in contract business. Sandesh Nagaraj
has his hotel business and he has other interests. Manju
is also a film distributor and has acquired the distribution
rights of Chiranjeevi starrer "Stalin' in the name
of his brother. K.C.N. Kumar is an all rounder and he
does many things at the same time. No one knows for sure,
whether he is a film producer, distributor, financier
or theatre lease holder. He has released "Stalin'
in the Majestic theatre for which he is the lease holder'
charged Govindoo in a press conference held at the KFCC
office.
Sa.Ra.Govindoo termed the action of some producers in defending
the dubbing of non Kannada films as "Anti Kannada' and said
the chamber has always opposed dubbing culture. He also said that
producers should also realise that by their vocal support to dubbing
films, they are insulting late Dr. Raj Kumar who was opposed to
it.
Ashok, President
of the cine workers association and Sundarraj, Secretary of the
artists association came down heavily on the attitude of the producers.
"They are complaining on every one connected to the industry
without accepting their own commissions and omissions' said Ashok.
"They
don't have an agenda. One day they speak of encouraging
dubbing films and the other day they are blaming the stars
for the mess in the industry. Then they deny what they
have said. They are not allowing
genuine producers from making new films' he added.
Sundararaj said that the issue of remuneration is strictly between
a producer and artists and such issues should not come into public.
"We artists also have many complaints against producers who
have bounced cheques and who have defaulted on payments. We are
also prepared to discuss these issues with producers' he added.
