Kannada Film Will Screen

Bangalore
will be hosting a prestigious international film festival
from Friday December 22. The seven day long festival will
be inaugurated on Thursday at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.
totally 28 Kannada films will be screened as part of the
International film festival which will be organised by
the Suchitra Film Society in Collaboration with the state
government and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.
The Bangalore international film festival will have retrospective
of the Mysore born cinematographer V.K.Murthy who worked for Gurudatt's
films and Kannada film "Hoovu Hannu' and also famous Japanese
director Nagisa Oshima who won the Best director award in the Cannes
film festival for his film L'empire De La Passion made in the year
1978.
While four films of Oshima which were done in four years between
1968 to 1972(Death By Hanging(1968),. The Boy (1969), The Ceremony
(1971) and Dear Summer Sister (1972) will be screened, three great
films made by Gurudutt in the combination of V.K.Murthy will be exhibited
in the festival. The films are Pyaasa and Kagaz Ke Phool (which was
made in colour) directed by Gurudatt and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam directed
by Abrar Alvi.
Kannada film 'Samskaara' based on a novel of Dr. U.R.Ananatha Murthy
and directed by Late Pattabhirama Reddy will be featured as one of
the Indian classic films in that section. The list also include Hindi
film 27 Down, Bengali film 'Athithi' and Malayalam film "Nirmalyam'.
The cinema of India will feature some of the better known films which
were selected for the Indian Panorama section last year. They include
Assamese film Joymati by Borah, Tamil film "Aadum Koothu' directed
by T.V.Chandran and Marati film Bayo by Gajendra Ahire. Critically
acclaimed Kannada film Nenapirali one of the block busters of the
year 2005 will also be featured in this section.)
The cinema of the world section includes films made Argentina , Afghanisthan,
Bulgaria, Bangaladesh, Austria, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Hungary,
Iran, Norway, Poland and even Sri Lanka.
In the world classics, eleven films will be featured including films
of Well known Hollywood director Ernst Lubitsch and French director
Max Ophuls.
Kannada films which will be screening in this film festivals are
- Bettadha Hoovu, Shanthi, Hamsageethe, Kanooru Hegadathi, Panchama
Veda, Bankar Margaiah, Beladingala Bale, Paniyamma, Boothayana Maga
Ayyu. Antha, Bara, Mithileya Seetheyaru, Premaloka, Chomana dudi,
Deveri, Bhaktha Kumbara, Aparichitha, Om, Maninna Maga, Kasturi Nivasa,
Chandra Chakori, America America, Belli Moda, Munnudi.
Samskara will be screened under the Indian Classic film, while Nenapirali
will be screened under contemporary section
