The City Civil Court has stayed the telecast of a new serial called 'Akka' which was supposed to be the telecasted from the 02nd of December. After the completion of the 'Indian' reality programme, ETV had announced two serials from 8-9 slot in the night. While the first half an hour had a new serial called 'Agni Sakshi', the latter part was dedicated to another tele serial called 'Akka' being directed by Ramji. The two serials had raised a lot of expectations among the viewers because of the different plots, both the serials boasted of.
But last week writer Rekha Rani wife of cinematographer-director Ashok Kashyap has raised objections that the serial 'Akka' was very similar to that of a script called 'Kanmani' which she wrote few years back. Rekha Rani claimed that 'Akka' looks very similar to that of 'Kanmani' as both tells the story of twins. She also moved to the City Civil Court against this. The Court on Friday evening stayed the telecast of 'Akka' till further orders. The Court has also issued notices to the channel and the producers of the serial also.
